In this tutorial, I demonstrate how to create this cement like scraped watercolour cake. Super easy to make!

COLOURS USED:
Electric Purple
Turquoise
both of the above colours are of the Americolour gel food colour range.
this is a 6 inch and a 4 inch tiered cake. Both cakes stand at approximately 5 inches high (10 inch high cake in total)
In these video tutorials, I normally use Bakels Premixes to save on time.
(Bakels is a bakery grade cake premix. Another great one is Allied Mills)
If you prefer to bake from scratch, I do have a range of awesome cake recipes here which convert to cupcake recipes very nicely too.

I use these butter based cakes above because they are sturdy under fondant and stable at room temperature, as are the muds.

BUTTERCREAM:
700 grams butter
1,200 grams icing sugar (so 1.2kg)
3 to 4 tablespoons on milk

Hello Rosie! I have a question how do you manège to keep the top cake in place, I saw you places straws on the bottom for support, but if you are going to love it around the top part won't fall? Btw I love love love your channel I never had such a sweet side or passion for baking but after arching your videos it made me feel like I could make them too.

loving those colours like this together, the silver topper and silver leaf is perfect combo. can i ask where you buy those thick jumbo straws? i have such trouble getting them, everywhere i look its not the thick studry ones and they would be so easy compared to what i use.

Hey Matilda, thank you for your lovely comment! I buy mine from bargain stores. Cake decorating stores should stock them as well, but they would be easy to come by at your regular shopping centre in bargain stores.

Hey hun, in terms of brand I am not too sure it has one. I buy mine from Bake Boss (I am pretty sure Bake Boss is Australia wide). Otherwise I try my luck on e-bay and just make sure it's the 100% edible kind.

By the time you are about to spread the blue and white buttercream, at what state is the cake? Is it cold and just coming out from the chiller or already at the room temperature?

Thank you for the video request! Whipped cream limits the type of decorating you can do on a cake, but I can definitely give it a go :)

Check out Manuela Kjeilen. Beautiful cakes & almost always use whipped cream frosting.

Hi! i love your tutorials and your content! but i have a question, you always chill your already frosted cakes with buttercream in the freezer, but how do you deal with condensation? i really need help with this because it almost ruined the last cake i did

Hi hun, thank you for your comment and question :) I only leave my cake in the freezer to set for up to 10 minutes or so (unless it is a top tier, in which case I leave it in for 15 to 20 minutes). The goal is to have the buttercream harden up, but not actually chill the inside of the cake. To avoid condensation, it would help to place your cake in a cake box first, and then pop it into the freezer, for just enough time for the frosting to firm up.

Hi hun, you can find them at most cake decorating stores. I also buy some on E-bay, but he sure the listing is for edible gold leaf, 100% edible and 24 karat gold.
