Scream and Scream 2 were all the rage in my high school. Randy was my favorite character.

Scream is one of the first slasher films I saw young that I could watch in its entirety. I didn't realize it was satire until years later but it's so well done that it completely stands on it own without the satire.

My favorite part about Scream is that it not only deconstructs the horror genre, it was made by someone who helped shape it. Wes Craven had a major role in shaping 1980s horror, then later tore it all apart with this film. Then two years later, Don Mancini did something similar with Bride of Chucky, which made its own meta references. The 90s were a terrific era of horror when movies took a step back to view it through a different lens before we got all the reboots and remakes of the 00s such as TCM, F13, and Elm St

Scream is easily one of my favorite Horror franchises. I saw the 1st film in theaters when I was 15 and it blew my mind. Can’t wait for part 7.

I'm sorry but the proposed idea of Ghostface coming after Sydney and her daughter just sound so unncessary... the Sam & Tara led part 5 and part 6 ended perfectly.

“Scream” should be preserved in the National Film Registry for its cultural significance and how influential it was for pop culture. 😊😊

I saw Scream in 1999 and it changed horror for me and my friends. Absolutely incredible film with such a fantastic cast. My mom was really into Party of five, so when she heard Nev Campbell was in this, she wanted to see it. I just got back from a horror convention 2 weeks ago. I got to meet both Mathew Illard and Skeet Ulrich. They were super nice. it was such an honor to meet the original ghostfaces.

Scream was my first ever horror film to watch. The trviva and tropes was lost on me of course, but it got me curious because the next one I watched would be the OG Halloween 🎃 I only watch this one and Scream 2. I dont think the later sequels measure up because they fall into the exact mistakes that the first two Scream movies were highlighting. This is what happens when you bump off Randy! And I think Scream 2's ending was a nice closing for the story with Sid giving Cotton credit in front of the reporters and her walking on campus with relief to Collective Soul's 'She Said' playing.

My one question that I’ve always had about the party scene is; what happens to the girl in the blue tank top? She leaves the room before Randy gets the call about principal Himbry on the goal post saying “I’ll leave you guys alone”, but she’s not seen getting into the thunderbird or mustang with the five boys when they take off for the school.

great video! I must have been 12 or 13 when I first watched it and didnt get the meta stuff. i was blown away regardless and it ignited my never ending love for horror movies. I also love the attention to detail: you can always tell which killer kills whom just by the way they hold the knife. awesome flick!

scream was very much needed after they kept on making friday the 13th movies and nightmare on elm street movies and made freddy a whole cartoon character i could go on and on but scream was a breath of fresh air and just like how everyone wanted to make a slasher like micheal myers when halloween came out you started to see all these little scream clones running around and now being self aware is in every movie nowadays not just horror.
@thecunninlynguist29 күн бұрын
The nee nightmare idea fully realized. All 6 are solid entries...3 might be the weakest overall for me though. I'm cautious and hesitant with scream 7...what else can they do with sid? 5 was already stretching it...and we all know we're only getting sid back cause spyglass scrambled after Jenna and Melissa left

First scream I saw was 3 and I know a lot of people hate on it but my grandma picked up a Pocahontas Disney vhs at a yard sale and someone thought it would be a good idea to replace Pocahontas with scream 3 so 7 year old me got the shock of a lifetime and weeks of nightmares. For the first few minutes I just thought it was a very weird and scary comercial. Watched it all though and while scaring the crap out of me became one of my favorite movies for a long time

Randy's "rules" are wrong: in the Halloween movie he's watching, Laurie Strode smokes pot. Also in Friday the 13th, Alice smokes pot and plays strip poker , and Annie, who has all the qualities of a final girl, is the first present day casualty. Nevertheless, I like his crazy Sam Loomis type energy!

The biggest standout for this franchise and while it'll always surprise the other mass/masked killer movies is that it will never devolve into the audience rooting for Ghostface. You have Sidney (and Gale) as anchors for the story. The other franchises don't have that consistently, so you end up being entertained by how Freddie, Jason, Michael, etc. will terrorize these random stupid characters.
@brandienunziati949629 күн бұрын
Huge. Big time changed things for horror at a time when it just sucked. Took a lot from classics like Slumber Party Massacre, The Prowler.... But the satire involved was so genius. So well done. I never got a chance to dress as Ghostface for Halloween, this year I'm finally doing it 😁

but also slashers need a good back story why the killer kills and also a bit of a whodunnit. This is why I would say F13 is the first slasher....jason's mom had a good reason. TCM and Halloween didn't have this. Now,. saying that I could see how someone could say Pyscho is the first slasher. Also, I don't think it was intentional to say that you get killed if you have sex because you are not a virgin anymore although people read it that way.... sex was a way to get two people alone and then an easy excuse to separate them and some fun when the one lover thinks the slasher is their lover but isn't. Ok, I got to do something. I'll be right back.

What I got from many slasher thrillers and "horror" movies is how some people are too stupid to exist because they have no situational awareness and never think rationally. This ranges from investigating odd noises in the dark because every area is poorly lit ALL THE WAY to the people being chased and choose to run upstairs/climb into rafters rather than making a dash toward a convenient exit. Oh, and it's amazing how many are unarmed... especially in movies taking plane in American deep south. I can only suspend so much disbelief.
