Screen Porch Ceiling - Better Than Cedar!

We are installing the screen porch ceiling on this build! For this ceiling we are installing tongue and groove VG Hemlock from UFP - Edge. The screen porch will have this material on the ceiling and the wall of the house, helping to tie it all together. We are also install the new Premier Stone on the outside of our fireplace wall.

That TB wood is amazing in first seen it believe it or not on Andy Rawls YT Channel which he is a furniture builder (professional not DIY) where he had a GC help him rebuild a nice deck (big). Some of the pvc porch ceiling products meant to look like wood I saw at JLC live this weekend were really impressive.

Beautiful ceiling. Is the VG Hemlock a thermally modified material? If so what finish did you use on it. I think we are going to use that on the covered patios on our house I am building.

Consider placing some cheap luan down on the interior deck surface as you drag ladders and tools across it. Scratches in that surface can cause finger pointing at the end of the job. Been there.

I’ve actually looked everywhere for that Hemlock and can’t find it in the Midwest. Not even from the company that makes it.

What are the shims on the beam for?

The beam is only 5.25” and the 6x6 is 5.5” or a little bigger so we build out the beam flush with the posts
