Hot Fuzz (2007) SYNOPSIS: As a former London constable, Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) finds it difficult to adapt to his new assignment in the sleepy British village of Sandford. The Shotgun Pump sound effect was used about 13 times, before any shots were fired. That's a hidden joke there. How movies overuse gun foley (sound effects) so much.

i love how sergeant fisher spends the entire film asking angel for help in almsot every event as how to handle certain textbook situations like gas explosions and traffic collisions, but when it comes to an unorthodox situation of besieging a building filled with potentially dangerous individuals he has a plan and takes the lead. everyone has their specialties, its about knowing when to apply them.

Old comment but I think its a very intentional jab at how movies use extremely unrealistic cover from gunfire. That glass is stopping shotgun/rifle long ammo when even most bullet proof glass can only really handle small caliber ammo. Even military transport glass can barely take a few rounds of 7.62 before failure.

I like the way Edgar Wright shows consideration for the viewers. The fights "Nicolas vs. Lurge" and "Officers vs. Knife-throwing-guys" were filmed and cut in a very fast, exhausting way. After Nicolas defeats Lurge, he runs over to Danny and while both are talking, the camera shoots a onetake. So the viewer's eyes to relax.

For me, it just makes it that extra bit funnier that they used a real (at the time) supermarket chain for the location. They could have made up a fake supermarket chain or even just used a generic store, but the fact that it's actually a Somerfields is hilarious to me.

It's probably just so the audience can enjoy watching this highly-trained officer initiating a bare-knuckle fight with this big guy with an intellectual disability without feeling guilty about it, since both consented to it.

They aren't going to chamber a round until they have a positive bead on a resisting target. They need to give the suspects a chance to surrender in any case, and there are few arguments for surrender more persuasive than the sound of a round being chambered.
