I never realized before... maybe Stormtroopers were always terrible shots (no cheek weld, no cover, no bracing, etc), but Obi-Wan just doesn't know anything about infantry and blasters since he's used to working by himself with a short-range laser sword. Obi-Wan has been a crank and a hermit for decades and needs a lot of credibility in a hurry, so he bullshits Luke who doesn't know anything about infantry or blasters either.

He actually wasn't that bad in A New Hope. Lucas wrote him to be a slick used-car salesman type so he's actually got some spunk in that movie. The original plan was to have someone else voice him in post-production like they did for Vader. So he's doing things like kicking R2 and outwitting Stormtroopers. It's only in Empire Strikes Back that Anthony Daniels took over and made him totally prissy.

That movie was set in 1957. He didn’t need the refrigerator, everyone back then knew all you had to do was duck and cover 🤣. I don’t think Ryan did the other three films either, yet anyway so make it so I got the “complete adventures” on blu ray, but lacking Young Indy kinda makes it incomplete. How about Young Indy on blu ray, I think most fans would prefer that than Crystal Skull. Don’t they own Crystal Skull, well it came with the box set. I didn’t even hate it, it’s just not as great as the previous three. A movie just needs to be watchable and I’m entertained. Still Young Indy goes above it, despite Crystal Skull referencing the episode Spring Break Adventure

The OT had more holes than plot, and we knew it when they were first released. In fact, it was part of the fun. I remember totally roasting these movies with friends in 8th grade. Didn't stop us from watching them hundreds of times and loving every minute. Now people treat Star Wars like it's supposed to be holy scripture. What a shame.

No one believed the original trio were perfect, but story telling and movie production has improved and people expect better stories, not worse stories with known story breaking mechanisms. Also, continuity is a thing, a thing that Disney evidently doesn't understand. It is quite obvious Disney doesn't know how to make sequels and spin-offs well. Well over 90% of their follow-ups are straight to TV. And considering they usually use well known and time-tested stories for their originals, it's pretty obvious Disney only knows how to retell old stories someone else thought of.
