Star Trek has been one of the most popular sci-fi franchises in the world for decades, and with the success of the 2009 blockbuster reboot, it was only natural that we got a few follow-ups to the Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto-led movies.
Star Trek Beyond, the first movie in the Kelvin timeline, does raise some questions though. Like what happened to Carol Marcus? What happened to the life-saving superblood from Star Trek Into Darkness? What happened to beaming bombs onto people’s ships? Why does Kirk think a desk job will help him in the way of excitement? Did anyone ever care about Spock and Uhura’s relationship? How is Jaylah managing to hide that ship from Krall, who’s literally the one who crashed it there? Why do all these movies have bad guys from a different time?
To answer all these questions and more, step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to Star Trek Beyond! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

His most popular video on his channel has 3.3 million views at the time of writing this comment (I’m not including the jack black video at 12m because he doesn’t make that sorta content anymore) and his most recent one 700k. The most popular pitch meeting video (that I could find) was at 4.4 million views and the most recent one at around 950k. 2. Even if they were around the same amount of views, not taking care of the Pitch Meeting series would be essentially cutting your salary in half, but in this case where the views outnumber the ones on his main channel he’d be cutting his income by 65%. Yeah, but it was a Star Trek that went Into Darkness. No one could really see what was going on, much less where anyone left stuff like the magic Khan blood or the only transporter in Starfleet that could beam bombs onto other ships. So later when they went looking for the darkness, they went so far Into the Darkness that they got confused and just kept going and going so now they're pretty sure they're Beyond it, so far Beyond it, in fact, that there's really no point in even trying to come back. So they're done.

True Star Trek ALWAYS contains Majel Roddenberry! She was there from the very first TOS pilot, right through TNG, DS9 and VOY. She featured a LITTLE in ENT and the 2009 movie, but not too much. Then she was gone, and her husband's legacy with her! What is today called "Star Trek" is sacrilege to Gene's wholesome vision of mankind's future.

Also for the fact that almost every Star Trek fan hated those things. I don't know what JJ was thinking. The Super Blood, the Transwarp beaming, the beaming through shields. This movie rightly ignored all that stupidity.

Screenwriter: "He's gonna use his bio weapon on the thing that controls the air supply for the whole base." Producer: "They don't have any security, or safety protocols around that thing?" Screenwriter: "No they don't." Producer: "Ah..I don't think anyone's gonna buy something that important being left totally vulnerable to attack." Screenwriter: "Actually, something tells me, in just a few short years, it won't be nearly as unbelievable as you'd think." Producer: "What?!?!" Screenwriter: "What??"
