Ever since the first Transformers movie became a worldwide phenomenon over fifteen years ago, Paramount has been churning out movies in the franchise every few years. The latest entry into the giant-robots-punching-each other film series is here, starring Anthony Ramos as the latest human-person-down-on-their-luck-who-discovers-a-Transformer.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts definitely raises some questions. Like why are we barely seeing the beasts when the movie title promises that they’ll be rising? Does continuity matter at all, or are we just done with that? What kind of Macguffin is everyone after this time?
To answer all these questions, check out the pitch meeting that led to Rise of the Beasts!

I mean the director himself has confirmed it's a reboot and the plot itself proves it's a reboot. The only one not saying it's a reboot is the producer who's known for being a pain and still clings to the hope it's a prequel. He went so far as to not bring Bumblee's director for rotb to not make it a reboot which is SUCH a shame simce this movie could be even better with his involvement. I mean steven did a good job but there's a lot of big problems in the movie especially with Optimus.

@@se7enofnein Honestly, I don't think this Pitch Meeting hit the mark for this film The script should... just not really have been what it wound up being. Like, in terms of actual issues that aren't just "being average as hell", I get wanting the big bad to be introduced early, but in the case of Unicron, the threat is just too big to be feasible for the audience. Like, of course Unicron won't come out of the sky beam portal and eat the Earth. And why commit to Mirage or Bumblebee's death in the first entry of a trilogy? They're the marketable ones (although Mirage only has an expensive Deluxe toy apparently? Habsro is such a weird fuckin' company).

1:00 I mean... I think I watched the Bumblebee movie but I really cannot remember it well (which is weird if you know me)... but overall I think they decided to completely reboot and retcon the franchise with that one. Most annoyingly they try to shove this Optimus Prime character arc in that should explain how he developed the sympathy for the humans that we know from the other movies... but they also give zero effs about every other bit of continuity
@michaelklaus

also, if you think about it, if they had taken seconds to give Airazor (the bird, for all who did not take time to remember names; Michelle Yeoh's character) a burial or at least place her next to some more energon ore she would be revived, too; why do they even care about killing off any of the bots? also also: the movie hand waived time travel also also also, but only for German speakers: somebody decided to have Arcee Rider (The bike; Liza Koshy'scharacter; I guess she has at least some experience in acting and dubbing) being dubbed by a racing-car driver who only ever appeared in documentaries and hosting... outside of her sport; and I am not sure if she even came into a studio to do so; she sounds like she did all of her lines as ADRs and without any directions whatsoever; I mean, it is clearly not her fault and she might have done a good job if anybody told her how; and since I didn't have time yet to watch the movie also in OV I am not sure if the dubbing book also does her character injustice or if Arcee has the most stupid lines in that version also

Optimus Prime was actually meant to turn towards the camera and say "this film is part of the rebooted continuity started with the movie Bumblebee (2018). Buy my toys." but it was cut with the scene of him ramming Scourge through a wall and killing a Decepticon who turns into a bus and played a recording of Autobots pleading for their lives before being executed and then dumping his body in a river like a serial killer to hide from the humans where it floats down before coming to rest on other Decepticon corpses. That was the original opening for this movie.

I don't get why people think the tunnel is contrived. It's a tower that funnels lava for energy, of course it has ventilation. Plus, there's no such thing as "human sized" in a universe where transformers can be any size. It's not like only humans can fit in there. Arcee could fit if she crawled.
