Regardless of the script, those two guys were dueling at who would go more HAM. Cage naturally fits this role better so he set up the Castor character, and then still managed to sneak in some absolutely wild moments even as "Archer" in a Cage body, especially in Dietrich's mansion. Travolta on another hand had a TON of fun playing Castor, he went berserk with the role, almost a Joker-like performance. What a movie

@@CLARENCE-ys1xr Why??? He was speaking in Castor's voice at that point. Speaking on that did you notice how later in the movie after Archer dislodges the chip in his throat he still for some reason speaks in Castor's voice???

Seeing it done like this makes it easy to see all the work that goes into making a scene work, from the music in the delivery of each vocalisation to all the tape marks on the floor so the actors can fast-track their blocking. Fantastic work, I can especially imagine the fun John and Nicolas would've had workshopping pretending to be each other, taking some of their qualities then dialling them over the top. Every actor loves a role in which they can have some fun and play it broad. ^_^

rewatched FACE/OFF last night and then wanted to revisit this B-roll compilation I joked to my friends, "Cage as Archer is going all in on a classic tortured movie monster performance as Archer... while Travolta as Troy is leaning into... Ace Ventura!" And it WORKS
