It's always nice to have creators who see sol ring, rhystic, and other big staples and just say "no. take it out of your deck". every time I hear content creators pushing for more streamlined competitive decks in commander my heart sinks because that's not really the fuckin point. you wanna try to win sure but if 1/2 your deck is a copy-paste you've lost the plot.

People have different goals when playing the format, i wouldn't exactly say it's not the point, a lot of people just wanna play a legacy deck that has more identity, some people wanna play battle cruiser magic and just talk to their friends, commander allows for all these experiences, its up to the group whether or not to play like that, that being said when you submit decks that are more competitively or staple inclined to someone that isn't like that, I feel like they don't know or really listen to the creator they watch, a lot of my decks are cedh and I wouldn't bother sending them in except for tayam and magda as they are weird cedh decks that don't run that many staples

I know this is a month late and I'm probably screaming this into the void, but for that first Izzet deck I would highly recommend Clout of the Dominus. It would give the commander +1/+1 and Haste for being red and +1/+1 and Shroud for being blue, all for either 1 blue or 1 red. it's an insanely good enchantment for protecting squishy, removal prone, izzet commanders. I use it in my Nekusar deck and it adds a whole level of resilience to any sort of fragile engine type strategies. it's also a whole ass 50 cents, and is extremely flexible and cheap at one split mana

@@pakman184 I don’t particularly hate Sol Ring, I’m just trying to answer OP’s question. This also stands in stark contrast to the explanations for why Mana Crypt, Dockside Extortionist, and Jeweled Lotus were banned, but Sol Ring is pretty much untouchable. It reminds me of Force of Will or the sol lands in Legacy.

​@@jproductions7469 That's why I said near-cEDH. It is as close to cEDH that they can get as far as I can tell outside of Animar while still maintaining the theme. I'm not a moron, I've played it at cEDH tables and lost and I've played cEDH. Not a single one of them provides any real value when cheated out and win-cons that don't automatically win and cost 10 mana suck, the inability to use win-cons that I think are cool is one of the biggest reasons I don't play cEDH. I just use near-cEDH despite it being hyperbole because there's not really a better way to say "too high power for 99.99% of casual tables but not high power enough for cEDH". It has a turn 1 win, averages winning turn 4 or 5, and doesn't tend to ever let matches break 7. High power seems like an understatement when all of my decks are high power and this one is a fair bit stronger. It'll be bracket 4 when the bracket system comes out while the others will probably be 3, but until then "near-cEDH" is as close as I can get to an accurate description right now without posting the deck list and explaining all of the combo lines.
