Hello Abbey and thank you for a generalized opinion. End of the day it’s the preference and choice of the consumer. As you mention the pink color being due to the various forms of “impurities”, and to add in erudition without deliberation on the others i.e., the “pink color” is due to the natural presence and composition of trace minerals deposits in the salt by nature thousands of years ago. Due to the natural composition of trace minerals, the salt colors range from tints of pink, medium pink, dark pink, orange, yellow, blue, gray, white and pure halite, which is transparent. Black salt is manufactured through a recipe with certain herbs and widely used in preparation of various spice seasonings, food preparation and medical (ayurvedic) treatments. Though evolved from a once ocean/sea mass, and with the slow evaporation process, leaving expansive mineral salt deposits and for which Himalayan salt is actually “natural rock salt crystals” and there is no Himalayan sea salt. Himalayan salt is not from the Himalayas, rather about 200 km in the foot beds of the Himalayas, the widely known “salt range” situated in the Punjab region of Pakistan. In terms of salt mines, Pakistan ranks second; still, No. 1 - the hub for quality salt, compared to other salt producing countries, precisely for consumption, human/animal alike! I am the CEO of Salt Emporium a division of RVW INTL and a direct Processor, Fabricator, Manufacturer, Supplier and Exporter of the Himalayan Salt from Pakistan, sine 2008, with happy and content customers in USA, UK, Spain, Belgium and Australia. Happy to be of assistance, where possible. I sincerely hope the above details have been insightful without causing any offence as nothing as such was or is intended!

table and sea salt are reported to have nano plastics so maybe Himalayan pink salt is a better option ? It’s the least refined aS well ?

Celtic sea salt is gray so does that mean it is due to contamination or heavy metals?
@christyjordan77243 жыл бұрын
Hello Abbey. Would the refining process also play a role when determining which salt is healthiest to use?
@madprunes2 жыл бұрын
Not really because whatever form of processing they use it's pretty much pure sodium chloride potentially with an anti caking agent, any minuscule quantity of impurities from processing wouldn't have any health effect.

Without any discrimination to your question on “healthier salt”, salt is good and bad, based on the regular or general advised intake for a healthy individual and or as will be advised by the doctor depending upon the individual’s health and condition. The processing of Himalayan pink salt is quite articulate in the sense that all quality measure are adopted from selection of rock/lump to be used, washing & sun drying, crushing, filtration, handpicked color sorting prior to packing/packaging and without any kind of anti-caking agents and or added iodine. On the other hand in general sea salt, obviously from the sea has pollutants in the form of micro-plastics. In terms of refined salt, which is processed at high temperatures leaving only sodium and chloride, the salt is not cleansed of the burnt residues.

Hello Abbey, Have you actually tried the Pink Himalayan Salt from Pakistan?

Please expand on why you are saying that small salt granules dissolve more slowly. That seems counterintuitive to me. Yes greater dispersion - greater clarity needed on that statement.
@AbbeytheFoodScientist2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mindy, good catch I should have said the opposite. That small salt crystals dissolve more quickly due to their high surface area! This makes it easier for our saliva to dissolve the salt crystals.
@j7ndominica0513 жыл бұрын
Tiny crystals of salt dissolve quicker not slower. That would make no sense. They are good for cold meals and safer to use in stainless steel that can easily get corroded by chlorine ions trapped below undissolved or even insoluble minerals in crude salt.

"Salt" should be sodium chloride with other minerals found in sea water. Scientist have proved that sea water contains 92 minerals. If "salt" originates from sea water, the real salt means "sodium chloride with other minerals.

@@AbbeytheFoodScientist Well!! it is its Natural color. As YOU see different kinds of rocks have multiple colors. I have some pics for you from where it was collected in the mines.IF you don't mind CAN I have your email ID or Whatsapp no? I am from Pakistan and I know my soil well😊😊

Yes the colour is literally an impurity, mostly iron oxide, colour isn't something that magically exists, sodium chloride is white, any other colour is because there are impurities.
