The Sealy High Point Firm Mattress is the GOAT of Mattresses. My wife and I needed a new mattress, and since we are getting older, we decided to not be cheap about it. We ordered a DeamCloud Mattress online, a very good mattress, but it was too soft for us. They had a 365-night return, so we returned it. We went to a local mattress store and looked at this one and the Serta Arctic Mattress, which was on clearance (which should have been a sign). We bought the Serta Arctic because we liked it in the store and it was cheaper. The Serta Arctic was like sleeping on a brick, and we had to return that mattress as well. We decided to spend above our budget and get the Sealy High Point Firm. Perfect, not too soft, not too firm. We have had it for a couple of weeks now, and we both love it. It is nice to have a deep relaxing sleep every night.

Anything you can tell me about the Sealy Posturepedic® Luxury Hybrid Aneira Firm Full Mattress? I tried it out recently and it felt great to lay on and not too warm. I’m a heavy, hot sleeper (220 pounds), so I want to make sure that it doesn’t give me any problems temperature wise, especially since I like to my duvet and weighted blankets. I like the pressure from heavier blankets. I tried using a thick blanket in the store, and I didn’t have any overheating problems.

I bought the high point soft at mattress firm because I had a Sealy Hybrid Premium 14-Inch Plush Mattress, TOTALLY different beds. Disappointed that sealy changes them that drastically. I just thought maybe it needed to break in more, but it's been about 9 months and I can't stand it. The Sealy Hybrid Premium 14-Inch Plush Mattress was the best bed I ever slept on. It's super heavy and the movers broke a spring when we moved last year from TX to AZ.

How is the support between the different models and softness ratings? I tend to lean toward firm because they have more support for my back, but I'm curious. I also realize that memory foam softens over time. So it might be good to start out with something firmer. Of course, if the soft models come with extra memory foam, that might be a nice addition. Especially if the prices are the same. You seem to really have a good idea of how everything works together for these mattresses. So I'm deferring to your experience.

I'm looking at this Sealy posturepedic plus hybrid plush vs the Serta iseries 3000 plush or serta iseries 3000medium. I would like a soft-medium feel as I am a side sleeper but due to shoulder bursitis I am sleeping on my back until shoulders heal. Of the 3 which would be best for both back and side as I am a female 118lbs. I do not like a sinking feeling, so none of the tempurpedic beds appealed to me and I sunk in too much in the Beautyrest CX hybrid plush and the CX medium was too firm for my shoulder. I also sink in too much with stearns and foster lux hybrids. Thank you for any assistance you can provide!

Hi Azad -- Thanks for your question, and sorry we missed this earlier. If you haven't already made a decision, I would always recommend waiting at least 3-4 weeks before making a decision. Very few mattress return policies (if any) will expire in that amount of time, and we have certainly heard from countless people whose opinions changed in that period of time. This is partly because of the initial "break in" and partly because it can take your body some time to adjust to a new sleep surface. I hope that's helpful.

@goodbed 7 ай бұрын
Given your weight we'd certainly recommend the firmer options in these models, yep. We've found that all of the Plus Hybrids tend to soften a fair bit, and the Soft options will likely be much to soft for you. And if you're choosing between the Brenham and the High Point Firm, there's not a lot of information out there on the differences. Based on some data we've seen, we think the High Point will likely be a bit more durable, but the Brenham will have a bit less foam, so it might feel slightly firmer and more supportive to a heavier sleeper such as yourself. I hope that's helpful!

@goodbed
@goodbed Жыл бұрын
No problem. Although the Sealy website doesn't use the full model names, they are indeed the same models shown in this video. The best way to line them up is by height and features. Here's a cheat sheet for the Posturepedic Plus Hybrids (which you can find here: www.goodbed.com/o/c/sealy-posturepedic-plus-hybrid/sealy/): - The Albany is 13" inches and listed as the Medium option. - The Brenham models are 13.5" inches and listed as Soft and Firm with the zoned HD coil unit. - The High Point models are 14" inches and also listed as Soft and Firm with the zoned HD coil unit. I hope that's helpful.

Would it be worth it upgrading to the high point from Brenham for the cooling affect. I’m a hot sleeper so I’m trying to figure out if it be worth it upgrading
@goodbed
@goodbed 5 ай бұрын
Hi Mitch -- The question of whether anything is "worth" any amount of money is highly personal, and depends on how big the difference is, how much you value that difference, and how much you can afford. Obviously, I can only address the first of these. The cooling technologies that are added in the High Point -- the phase change material and additional polyethylene fiber -- are both designed to add cooling for a finite time period. Once the heat from your body has fully saturated these features, their cooling powers will be depleted until you get up or reposition, meaning they aren't necessarily designed to keep you cool all night long. The idea is that their effects should last for at least 10-20 minutes, which should hopefully be long enough to help you fall asleep. In addition, I can confirm that the difference in coolness to the touch between the Brenham and High Point models is indeed palpable and noticeable, as mentioned in the video. So, while I don't think it will be a silver bullet that will keep you cool all night, I do think it will do the job it was designed to do. Lastly, keep in mind that these cooling features aren't the only extras you get when stepping up to the High Point. Hopefully that gives you enough info to decide whether it's worth the incremental investment.

@goodbed

Hey there sorry we missed this one. If you're both lightweight, then you could do well with either model, though we'd caution that the Brenham Soft could soften fairly dramatically over its life cycle and thus would not be the best choice for stomach sleepers. The Albany will also soften somewhat, though likely not to the same extent. Here is a side-by-side comparison of all our assessments for each of these two models: www.goodbed.com/compare/?mod=sealy-posturepedic-plus-hybrid-albany-medium&mod=sealy-posturepedic-plus-hybrid-brenham-soft I hope that's helpful.

Hoping I can get some help with this question how would you compare the Sealy High point firm to the Beautyrest Black LX-Class Medium Hybrid Mattress? Typically a side sleeper sometimes stomach/side rarely back
@goodbed
@goodbed Жыл бұрын
Hi there - Thanks for your question, and sorry we missed this earlier. The BB LX-Class Medium Hybrid is about 2 points firmer on our 9-point softness spectrum, but has similar cushioning depth to the High Point Firm. I'd be a bit wary of either of these particular models for stomach sleeping unless you're under 150 lbs, but they should both be OK for back sleeping for anyone under 200-225 lbs or so (a bit too soft for larger back sleepers). Both mattresses excel for side sleepers, though if you're over 250 lbs, the Beautyrest Black coil unit would be a little stronger and better for you. Take a look at our Beautyrest Black Hybrid coverage here: www.goodbed.com/reviews/beautyrest-black-hybrid-mattress-preview/ I hope that's helpful.

could you explain the difference between the hybrid and spring collections within the posturepedic plus line?
@goodbed
@goodbed 8 ай бұрын
Hi Alex -- As you might expect, the hybrid models all use a pocket spring support unit, while the foam models use a foam core instead of springs. This will lead to more bounce, and a little bit more give, in the spring models than in the foam models. But what is a bit more unusual in this case is that the comfort levels in the hybrid and foam collections do not overlap. At each level, there will be 2 comfort levels available in one support type and one in the other. For example, at the Brenham level (aka the "Advanced Support" level on Sealy's website), there are two hybrid options (Firm and Soft) and one foam option (Medium). In terms of more specific comparisons between these options, I'd recommend using our side-by-side comparison tool, which will let you compare every facet of any model in either line with any other model. For example, here are those 3 Brenham models compared: www.goodbed.com/compare/?mod=sealy-posturepedic-plus-hybrid-brenham-firm&mod=sealy-posturepedic-plus-foam-brenham-medium&mod=sealy-posturepedic-plus-hybrid-brenham-soft I hope that's helpful.

Would you recommend the High Point Firm for a stomach sleeper? I've tried the beauty rest black hybrid and had really bad back pain. Currently sleeping on a Beautyrest black CX-Class Plush Mattress which isn't as bad but doesn't feel great. Wondering if the High Point firm would still be too soft
@goodbed
@goodbed 8 ай бұрын
Hi there -- Thanks for your question. No, I wouldn't recommend that mattress for a stomach sleeper. That model has a lot of memory foam and a lot of conformance. This can be great for a side sleeper, who needs their mattress to conform to their curves. But for a stomach sleeper, it will most likely result in your hips sinking too far into the mattress, which is what leads to back pain. That is almost certainly what is leading to your back pain on the CX Plush. You can see in this side-by-side comparison that neither of these models are good for stomach sleepers: www.goodbed.com/compare/?mod=sealy-posturepedic-plus-hybrid-high-point-firm&mod=beautyrest-black-hybrid-cx-class-plush&mod=sealy-posturepedic-plus-hybrid-brenham-firm To be candid, none of the Posturepedic Plus Hybrids are ideal for stomach sleepers, given the amount of conforming memory foam they all have. However, if you really like the feel of these mattresses (which I can certainly understand), the Brenham Firm would be the best for you. So I included that one in the comparison as well. I hope that's helpful.
@MotherofDrag0ns

@@goodbed this is helpful thank you! I don't think the Brenham Firm is in stores anywhere so I'll have to do more research. Would the iSeries hybrid firm be a good option? I know they just released the 2.0 version but I couldnt find a huge difference from the older models.
@goodbed
@goodbed 8 ай бұрын
@@MotherofDrag0ns TBH I would probably discourage you from going that route either. Memory foam mattresses just tend to be too conforming for stomach sleepers, which leads to spinal alignment problems for the reasons I described above. It's not to say that some people can't find one that works for them, but it's unlikely that it would be the optimal choice. Based on everything you've told me, I'd look at mattresses that are between Firm and Medium, with shallower cushioning depth and only a bit of memory feel (not lots of memory feel). Here is a list of all of the mattresses that meet this criteria. As of now, there are 25 options on this list, so you can use the other filters to further narrow it based on your other preferences and priorities. www.goodbed.com/mattress-models/?softness=4&softness=3&softness=5&cushioning=1&memory-feel=2 I hope that's helpful.

Great video. How does the High Point soft compare to Silverchill plush? I have a one year old queen Silverchill and now want to upsize to a King. Thinking of High point or Brooklyn Bedding Sedona Hybrid.
@goodbed
@goodbed 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Laurel -- Thanks for your question. The High Point Soft has more memory foam (3.5") than the Silver Chill Plush (2"), so it most likely has more 'sink, which is why they call it a "Soft." Notwithstanding that deep cushioning, we found the High Point Soft to have a firm surface (as shown in this video), so we classified it as a Firm on our softness spectrum. So it depends on what you are looking for. For some added context about the Silver Chill, you can look at our coverage of the Sealy Hybrid Premium collection (now discontinued), which included that model, here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWSshKyofcx8q9E As for the Sedona Hybrid; I'm afraid we haven't reviewed that model. On paper it looks similar in construction to the High Point, but the manufacturer says it's a Medium -- so it might be softer than we found the High Point Plush to be. Both are 14" tall. Hope that helps!

Do you think it'll work for a side sleeper being that it's a bit more of a medium/firm? Worst case scenario I'll have to get a topper or try to change to a back sleeper.

I bought a Serta iSeries Hybrid mattress and it has ended up being just a bit too firm for my liking, and I’m past the return window. I’m looking at these Sealy mattresses in the video, specifically the plush/soft ones. I get a good nights sleep on my Serta, I wake up rested, but I am a side sleeper and occasion have some shoulder pain from the mattress just being a point or 2 too firm for my body type. Would this be a good mattress for me(the one in the video)? Also do you have any ideas on how I could try to sell the Serta mattress? Should I just try eBay and Craigslist? I’ve barely had it 2 months and it’s been in a premium mattress protector, I’d like to try and get some of my money back to buy a softer mattress.

Hey there just seeing this now. And great question. This will depend a bit on your particular needs and preferences. They do both use the same coil unit and generally have the same materials, however, the High Point has an additional layer of material to manage heat. It's also possible that some of the underlying foam layers might be slightly different with regards to firmness, though the effect of this is rather minimal in our experience. And of course, there are some differences in the feel, which may be more or less appealing to you depending on your comfort preferences. Here's a full side-by-side breakdown of our assessments of those two models: www.goodbed.com/compare/?mod=sealy-posturepedic-plus-hybrid-brenham-firm&mod=sealy-posturepedic-plus-hybrid-high-point-firm TLDR: In our experience both feel similar, though if heat is a concern to you then the High Point might be worth the extra cash.

Hi. No worries we were just talking about this. There are two big differences between the High Point Firm and the Brenham Firm. The High Point has a little more memory foam and (per some sources) has some slightly higher density poly foam in the transition layers. Typically, a higher density poly foam means a more durable and consistent mattress in the long run. As a result, we generally feel more comfortable recommending the High Point. Also, the two models might feel slightly different, but this isn't a big differences in our opinion. I hope that's helpful.

@goodbed
@goodbed 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sam -- The good news is it's very unlikely that neck and shoulder pain is the fault of your mattress. Rather, neck pain is almost always related to your pillow. But to be more specific, it's very likely related to how your pillow and your mattress are interacting when used together. A given pillow may work great for you on one mattress, but be terrible for you on another mattress. This is because the pillow's job is to fill the space between you and the mattress -- and the amount of space between you and the mattress will vary depending on what mattress you're on. Every mattress has a different amount of softness, cushioning depth, and the like -- these factors will determine how much sinkage and conformance it provides. So even though you weigh the same on any mattress, and may even sleep in the same position on any mattress (eg, on your back), you won't sink in the same amount on every mattress. And this means that the space that your pillow needs to fill will be different on every mattress. My advice would be to have someone look at the angle of your neck on the mattress-pillow combos that DON'T give you neck pain (focusing on the position(s) in which you spend the most time sleeping). Then have them look at the angle of your neck on the mattress-pillow combo that DOES give you neck pain. I suspect this angle will be different. This will tell you what change to make to your pillow (eg, thinner, taller, etc.) to give you the proper neck angle on your new mattress. I hope that's helpful.

@goodbed
@goodbed 7 ай бұрын
Hi there -- We get this question all the time. You're 100% right that a fitted sheet (plus a protector, which we'd also recommend) will absolutely diminish the coolness to the touch that we describe in this video. That said, this doesn't mean that the benefits of this cooling capability are eliminated. Once the heat from your body reaches the cover of the mattress (which, with a sheet and/or protector will not be instantaneous, but will of course still happen), the material in the cover will still respond to that heat the exact same way. Think about if you laid on a marble counter-top with a bare back vs lying on a marble counter-top with a sheet over it. Having the sheet will make the marble feel much less cool to the touch, but as soon as the heat from your body reaches that marble, it will still have a cooling effect. So while your bedding will change how you experience this cooling feature, it won't eliminate its benefits. I hope that's helpful.

Hi there -- Thanks for your question. I'm afraid this one is impossible for anyone to accurately answer without seeing you on the mattress. That said, I can tell you that foam really only goes in one direction over time, which is softer. Some modest amount of softening can happen in the first few months as the mattress breaks in, but mostly it happens more gradually over time, so it may be years before you notice any change. But the foam itself will never get firmer. I hope that's helpful in thinking through which one might be a better choice for you.

Currently have the Sealy Warrenville IV plush pillow top and it made it 3 1/2 years and is starting to cause some back pain...question is does any manufacturer make a mattress nowadays that will last at least 5 years?
@goodbed
@goodbed 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there -- Thanks for your question. I'm sorry to hear about your experience with your current mattress, which sounds super frustrating. Regretfully, I have to inform you that at least part of the issue is with the choice of a plush pillow top. Plush pillow tops are made of very soft lower-density foams, as well as polyester fiber fills, all of which adds a lot of cushy softness and comfort. But at the same time, these materials will also break down a bit sooner than other materials, which over time can feel a bit like settling into a nest. Some people like this (or at least don't mind it). But for other people (eg, stomach sleepers, heavier people, etc.), this can lead to back pain and should generally be avoided. So going back to your question, for any manufacturer, the first thing to be aware of is that the firmer tight top models will be less susceptible to this than the softer pillow tops. Of course, this trade-off comes at the expense of some amount of comfort and pressure relief, which can be particularly important for side sleepers, lighter people, etc. If you feel like you need or want softness and are looking for the best balance of softness and pressure relief vs. longevity, I'd recommend looking at a latex hybrid. Here are a few on the softer side: * www.goodbed.com/awara-mattress-collection-preview/ * www.goodbed.com/reviews/birch-mattress-review/ * www.goodbed.com/reviews/nest-hybrid-latex-mattress-review/ I hope that's helpful.

@goodbed
@goodbed Жыл бұрын
Hi there -- Thanks for your question. First, it's probably worth explaining that some types of objects have specific weight limits. For example, elevators use motors that are engineered to function up to a specific weight limit. Mattresses are not like this. That being said, the weight of a sleeper is one of several very important factors in determining which mattress will offer them the best "fit" from a spinal alignment standpoint and how good a given mattress will be in delivering them proper spinal alignment. While we do make reference to some of our thoughts on what types of sleepers would be best suited for these mattresses, both in this video and our written coverage of this line, you are right that we don't get into specific weights. In general, when we refer to lighter people, we're talking about 150 lbs or less, though for really tall people this category would go up to 175 lbs and for the shortest people the cutoff could be 125 lbs. When we refer to heavier people, we're talking about 250 lbs or more, though for really short people, the cutoff might be 200 lbs and for the tallest people this category might start at 300 lbs. In your case though, at 400 lbs, I probably wouldn't recommend any of these mattresses because I would encourage you to focus on mattresses that are specifically designed for heavier people. We provide more explanation of what heavier people need to consider in this article here: www.goodbed.com/guides/best-mattress-heavy-people/ I hope that's helpful.

Wow so interesting, We are just about to reach our 120 night sleep trial with TempurPedic Luxe Adapt soft and I’m considering turning it in, it’s too hot, ( Arizona) it’s a little too conforming as it’s hard to shift at night from side to back to stomach. It has relieved some pressure off hips but I’m not loving the full foam without a little bounce that a hybrid would offer. I’ve decided to not go to the breeze series but am considering the high point firm but I’m so anxious to make the wrong decision twice! I can’t do latex and have researched every mattress out there. Great question. There are two ways we can look at this. First, I can give you my initial off-the-cuff impression - which is that the High Point Plush is going to feel a bit firm at the surface, but then soften to have a pronounced sense of Cushioning Depth and overall contour. The Tempur Luxe Soft might feel a bit softer at the surface, but has a zoned transition layer to maintain alignment with this contour. The High Point also has some zoning in the support layer, but this is deeper into the mattress and may not be felt in the same way. And in terms of pressure relief, we'd give the edge to the Tempur. We really do think their foams are unmatched in this area. The other way we can look at this is with our new compare feature here: www.goodbed.com/compare/?mod=sealy-posturepedic-plus-hybrid-high-point-soft&mod=tempur-luxeadapt-soft. I've preloaded both models into the link above, which will hopefully give you a bit of a broader perspective on things. Hope that helps!

Does the Brenham Firm sleep hot?
@goodbed
@goodbed 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ryan -- Overall, I'd say the Brenham Firm is average of better in that regard. The conforming memory foams on top will trap a little bit of heat, though they have some cooling features that will mitigate this. But below those foams, you have edge to edge coils -- these afford a lot of air flow, which is the most important factor in helping a mattress sleep cool. For this reason, the Brenham Firm and Soft will certainly sleep a bit cooler than the Medium. And I would say that on account of the shallower cushioning depth, the Firm will sleep slightly cooler than the Soft. Mind you, unless you are someone who has a tendency to sleep on the warmer side, all of the aforementioned differences will be a rounding error for you. I hope that's helpful.

Wouldn't more secure Stability be achieved w/shorter coils ❓
@goodbed
@goodbed 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mary -- That's an interesting question. Strength and supportiveness of a coil principally comes from the thickness (a.k.a. gauge) of the wire and the number of working turns. Other factors, such as pre-compression and tempering, can also affect its strength. But overall, the height of the coil is not a key factor in its strength. If your concern is about taller coils tipping over inside the mattress, this isn't really something that we hear complaints about -- so I would say it is a very uncommon occurrence, even in older mattresses. Even with individually pocketed coils, the pockets are attached to each other in a way that prevents this from happening. I hope that's helpful.

I'd wake up with a sore shoulder and hip a lot of the time. I ended up having to put a memory foam topper and a down topper on top of that for additional comfort layers to make it last a few more years. Finally I couldn't take it anymore as I was sleeping better on my sofa than in bed. What a piece of junk it was.
@goodbed
@goodbed Жыл бұрын
Ah, we're sorry to hear that. It can be tough to predict the lifespan of mattresses (and there's very little in the way of objective information on this available to the consumer), but we'd expect the High Point to have a similar or slightly better overall lifespan. The memory foam on top will soften slightly in the first year of use, but the underlying support foam and coils should have enough resilience to stay comfortable for a long time.
