My parents bought a patriot brand new in 2010. I already fell in love with jeeps before that bc my mom drove an 02 TJ, but boxy jeeps became my thing bc of the Patriot. I agree its gonna become the new "cheap jeep to buy" in 10 years, imo after people demolish the first gen Libertys. The biggest issue is the pre 2014 CVTs along with other things, which is why my family no longer has that jeep. Maybe there will be an "easy" way to swap in a better transmission?

I have to disagree on the Patriot, many reasons but the main one being… they don’t have a real transfer case… Liberty does, and defaults to RWD… Patriot is FWD and has a power transfer case, not a true transfer case… nor does it have a low range (I believe).

I generally try to talk people out of buying used tires. Don't get me wrong, there's deals out there but they're usually dry rotted, unevenly worn and pretty much worn out and end up paying close to new prices by the time you get them mounted and balanced. Tires and batteries are the only thing I go to Walmart for. A lot of times you can find a local shop that does a free alignment if you buy 4 tires.

Had a 2001 Dakota SLT quad cab w/5.9L and AWD/4WD. Not sure how they fit the 5.9 in there, but it was a monster in the Utah mountain snow with some blizzaks. Got 15mpg uphill, downhill, towing, hauling...didnt matter. Had fantastic low end grunt...but wasnt going to win any sprints. Comfortable truck for long drives.

The full time 4WD in the Dakota was extremely rare...the Durangos had them quite frequently, but the Dakota option was pretty rare. That 5.9L V8 was great....even the 5.2L was good....I had a 99 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport regular cab 4x4 with the 5.2L V8 and manual transmission, talk about a fun truck....would love to get a hold of one with the 5.9L V8.

I currently have two 1998s XJs one with just over 411,000on the body. Motor almost got to the 400,000 mile mark but number five piston lost its mind 8800 short of the 400,000… Just as I got to 411,000 it was side swiped by a F250 at 60 miles per hour in a snow storm.. I fixed it for yard purposes to plow with. My other one has 361,324 and going strong.

No offense to Junkyards 😂 I've been wanting to go just to see what i can score for random cool shit, but now im thinking about looking for tires. Did you hear about Da Hard Knocks Bears? Kinda embarrassing, but atleast were not packrs fans, am i right? 😂🤣

I go for XJ and WJ and ZJ parts. Still not finding a 242HD. I get WJ gas tank covers, trans crossmembers and any new parts I think I can use or hoard. I’ll get ECMs if the Jeep was driving when wrecked. In Chicago land the rot is almost as bad as by yous. Not many XJs any more though I did get a set of alloy axles and new hubs out of one, like new! I try to grab parts to keep my fleet of junk going a few more years. Ron

Didn't get tires for a Jeep, but I got a set of 4 tires with matching wheels for $240 for my Ford Ranger. Tires were brand name Cooper all season tires, almost brand new still had the little nubs on them. I bought the truck for $800, the tires that were on it weren't great, and knew I was going to need tires anyways, so I started looking around for some other parts at pick a part, and one day found a set on a Ranger usually good tires were never left on a vehicle out in the yard. Given how old the truck was I guess they didn't see much reason to pull them. I pulled them, brought them up front, and waited in what seemed to be a never moving line. The guy at the counter when I finally got up to the register to pay says man you've been in here patiently waiting and even helped a couple customers with what vehicles to look for to get some parts, I said ok, so...he says normally a set of wheels and tires are $400, he says how about $240...I said fair enough. I ran those tires on my Ranger for 4 years. The truck still has them on it, just sold it a few weeks ago. I don't need 2 trucks LOL. I have a 99 F250 SD 4x4 v10....and now as of 2 weeks ago I'm driving a 2003 Jeep Liberty Limited. You can get some good deals on tires and wheels at pick a part...yeah, if the tires you are wanting look like crap don't buy them, but sometimes you can grab a set of almost new tires, and good wheels. I know when I had my first ZJ I needed a full size spare tire for it, the local tire shop and wrecking yard wanted $180 for a matching wheel. I picked one up at the pick a part yard for $25. It had a pretty decent used tire on it as well, it was still with the Jeep when I sold it, and it was still in it when I found it in the pick a part yard last year :(. To be honest when I found my old Jeep in the pick a part yard I was sad. I owned that Jeep for 9 years, sold it, and it ran for another 12 years and another 200k miles...so in total that poor Jeep had 249k on it when it found its way into the pick a part yard.

I know of a 2000 dodge ram laramie slt quad cab 1500 magnum V8 46 RH automatic overdrive transmission manual shift transfer case lever on the floor gloss black with most of the white pinstripe 4x4 truck has some rust around the edges because it was a northern Ohio truck since new has almost all of the brake lines replaced with a complete set of stainless steel brake lines from classic tube out of ohio, and it unfortunately has the wrong front doors and the dr side rear needs the latch fixed and the muffler i have for it put on and however much exhaust pipe tubing to reconnect the factory single exhaust tailpipe since it is in really decent condition i was not changing it,, it has a completely rebuilt front suspension but it would eventually need a new set of front tires, and the wheels in my opinion need the plastidip stripped off the wheels, center caps and lug nuts repolish the laramie slt specific 16 inch high polished center and brushed aluminum outer lip.... Anyway my truck has it issues but it is not a Dakota quad cab but a ram quad cab...i currently have the overhead console map lights unhooked i was changing the broken harness but it was the wrong harness for a 2000 non overhead compass outside temp digital display readout... And it has a different instrument cluster in the truck the factory one suffered from stepper motor failure and electrical components contact issues.., it has a better body than most of them do it would look like a different truck with better front fenders, but I was trying to find a decent used set with good black paint..i have a set of fender flares but that is not how I wanted to fix it. And the interior is decent compared to most of them.. don't know why but when they junkyard swapped out the wrong front doors the rear speakers don't work so for now im just running the front speakers i installed but they are actually too deep for the doors and only allow the power windows down about halfway truck has ac though but it needs charged now... Anyway i have added yellow lense fog lights to the front bumper and you can drive the truck with only those on they could use a bit of adjustment but..oh well.. and I have a good set of junkyard headlights just need to clean the leaves and dirt out of them, and then install the new Sylvania silver Star headlight bulbs in them and put them on the truck.. i have a complete set of speakers cerwin vega hed r series the 3 way 6x9's in the front doors and i think 6 1/2 inch for the rear doors i just have to figure out why they don't work i don't want to splice into the factory dash wiring harness connector to make them work, so they are still in the box.. i have a factory type am fm CD player cassette tape player premium infinity by Chrysler stereo and it works great,i have a complete engine gasket set for the 318 magnum V8 in the truck and the intake manifold plenum gasket update kit.ive replaced the ignition electrical switch on the steering column.. thinking it was the cause of another issue so I still have the factory one in the standard motor products brand new box, truck has the original Ohio title and owners manual and i have the factory ignition key with the Rams head cut into the plastic on the key unfortunately i don't have the original door locks,i just plan on repining the locks to accept the factory ignition key.

I love going to see what is just out there but the Jeep ZJ, TJ, XJ selections are getting slim in the central part of VA. Great Score on those wheels and tires, the yards I go to usually pull them off the cars already and separate them from the wheels. I have gotten some nice deals on tires and 100% if I need tires I'm going there first.

Whatever man. I bought a perfect 2000 olds bravada for 600$(from someone like you that thinks a transmission will only be good if it costs 3000$) bought another crashed S10 blazer with 90,000 miles on it for 500$. Transferred transmission, interior, everything from crashed car to the clean one. Been going 3 years now. And I paid less for both trucks than you paid for a set of name brand 20 inch tires. I have bought almost brand new tires, less than a year old for 40$ each. Why waste materials, polluting the atmosphere with more manufacturing emissions because you're too LAZY to reuse parts. If you're rich enough to buy new parts all the time, good for you. Throw away whatever you want, gotta keep the junkyard stocked with good parts. Some of us make do, so we can afford other things like insurance, food, gas. Doesn't do you any good to buy all new parts if you can't afford to put gas in it after.
