I personally much rather see awesome, high-quality tattoos over bad tattoos. I also like to see the artists supporting each other, the era of reality tv where there is forced artificial drama is tired and overused. I appreciate the direction the show has taken.

It was kinda nice to see a season were everyone has respect for each other and everyone's work is cool. But at the same time it doesn't feel like ink master without some really bad tattoos.

It's refreshing to see such high quality on ink master! even though I do miss having like, the comically bad tattoos, i'm sure those will be more prominent in non-all star seasons where they don't have artists of this calibre on.

Although having DJ win again made this whole season feel like a waste of time from the pov of the viewer but they really showed some of the best tattoos this series has ever seen. These returning veterans really showcased some A+ talent. I do hope for some brand new contestants if we get a new season.

@@MrApplepants1963 Bob was def one of the best artists this season. However his finale piece just wasn’t that legible when you looked at it. The idea was sick and I thought it looked cool, but the execution on legibility cost him. Even he recognized the faults of it after.

The animal pinups were my favorite challenges they ever did. I have a lot of animal tattoos so that made me so happy. And I would totally wear a shirt of Angel’s cat-erpillar. She needs to make merch of that.

I agree. But tbh I think Gian should’ve won over DJ. He didn’t need to win a third time because he didn’t even do the whole back and two, it was the season for artists who didn’t win.

@@Shawner1000the issue with Gian is he doesn’t showcase versatility. When he could he would do something Neo Trad all season long. End of the season when it means biggest tattoo possible and should showcase how good you are, stick to the same thing that you’ve done? Yes he can do other things fairly good. But show us when it counts you can branch out and are a master of styles rather than just only one.

I love Anthony. I’ve been getting tattoos for 20 years and I understand the connect with the spirituality and the process he’s talking about. My last tattoo was 12 hours and it’s not yet finished, looking forward to my next 12 hours on the same piece, whatever it takes to finish.

DJ's geisha has one big issue every judge seems to look over - the instrument (shamisen) is played by using a "bachi" (plectrum, pick) and not by fingers I'm sure Nunez would have pointed that out. Apart from that it's pretty cool.

I can’t imagine how painful it must be to get your throat tattooed especially for men, and the area where their Adam’s apple is… just brutal. You gotta commend these folks for going through that pain. But hey, as long as they got a badass tattoo, and it’s what they wanted, or like. That’s all that matters at the end of the day. I must say these artists in this season really seem to know their craft, and know it well.

I didn’t really watch this szn because I used to just watch the 20-30 minute snips on KZbin like all the previous szns..I don’t think that really happened this year and instead they released spoilers of who was kicked off (which I also didn’t watch) which I think is sad on InkMaster’s part to not continue doing that in szn 14. Anyways, that’s besides the point of my comment. I’m more upset that they brought back past szn winners of InkMaster to compete against artists who either haven’t won at all or got gypped out of winning szn 13 bc of COVID. I’m upset that they allowed DJ to come back and win for a 3rd time on the show and took that opportunity away from someone else who doesn’t know what it feels like to win InkMaster. I honestly really loved this show until this szn came out….

The show was cancelled originally after Oliver was discovered to have done blackface in the past and the network and former contestants distanced themselves from the show. It was picked up again under a new judging panel to try and salvage and rebrand. Oliver will likely never be back. I imagine Chris and Dave didn't want to get involved by physically being present. It's a good way to back their friend, but also not be seen as siding with Oliver from a PR standpoint.
