You made it look easy rowing that blue band into position! I had to go with the green band. Thanks for a great video. I'm going to replace a seated barbell calf raise with this movement.

Excellent 👍🏾 I know about standing calf raises with bands but not the seated ones. Seated ones hit a different part of the calves.

Oddball question here. What kind of shoes are you wearing? I see they are Asics, but which model (year also if you remember)? Thanks! Awesome video. Exactly what I was looking for.

They're the Asics Mens Upcourt 5. They have hard soles which I like for lifting.

Hey Brandon! Great video as usual. I recently purchased the Clench Fitness bands and platform and I'm impressed with the variety and quality of exercises you can do. I have a question: have you ever measured the equivalent tension in kg for the blue and orange bands (which I believe is double when the band is folded like in the calf exercise of this video)? I would be curious to know it as I'm using those for squat and deadlift especially. p.s. also the handles have been a game changer for me, great idea! I'm loving the simulation of "T-bar row" exercise.

Hey marc6679! I'm glad you're happy with your Clench bands and Footplate! As for the band tension question, we publish the range of resistance for each band on our website. The top number in the range is the tension rating when the band is doubled over and stretched to 2x the relaxed length. For the blue band its max resistance is 230lb (104kg) when doubled over. The heavy orange band is 330lb (150kg) when doubled over.

Hi Brandon. Great video. Quick question. With the bent leg seated variation are you lifting the heel to execute rather than pushing through the balls of your foot and the opposite for the straight leg variation where you push through the balls instead of lifting the heel?

It's kind of the same thing. Your heels are non in contact with the floor during the concentric phase of the rep so the balls of your feet are what's in contact with the floor, therefore the balls of your feet are where the force is being transferred to the ground. The two exercises definitely feel different, but I would say you should drive through the balls of your feet in both exercises. The main things to focus on are controlling the rep tempo, getting maximum range of motion (full ankle flexion and extension), and really flexing your calves at the top of the rep during peak extension.

So band resistance is at body weight or greater , then how is this method is better than simple 0 equipment calf raise exercise? O e foot calf raise would create more resistance than this one? Please explain benefits in comparison

For me , i can go full out to failure on the first set on any body part when i use resistnsce bands and do more partials with the bands than with free weights so it saves a lot of time not having to do warm up sets .. But apart from that there really is no benefit from using bands . Most of tje claims are b.s

The band variation around your body somewhat also works the tibialis as well, like @1.14 time mark in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4LFZ2SYZtGLqdU&ab_channel=ConnorCurtis. You just need the opposite of the tension on the upward motion as well. Have you seen the Knees over Toes guy & AGT channel ? Always looking for band idea alternatives for the exercises they recommend. Thanks for your post

Yes you do get a little tibialis activation during the eccentric portion of this exercise. Have definitely seen some of KOTguy's content, will watch more and see if we can come up with a few vids with band focused exercises.
