JustAnswer Customer: Second opinion] GE adora washer shows "H20 supply" message and does nothing else.
JustAnswer Customer: It makes a humming sound and none of the switches have any effect.
JustAnswer Customer: Water supply is at the hoses is good.
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: Can you guesstimate how old your GE is?
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
JustAnswer Customer: 3 years old Model # GHWS8350H0WS
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
JustAnswer Customer: Yes
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: Anything else we should know to help you best?
JustAnswer Customer: It gave the H2O supply code this morning with wet laundry in the basket so I selected Drain & Spin which worked fine.
JustAnswer Customer: On the next load I got the H2O supply message and now none of the controls have any effect.
JustAnswer Customer: I've unplugged it several times with no change
JustAnswer Customer: Still displaying H20 Supply message and the washer appears to be stuck in the drain mode.
JustAnswer Customer: The pump runs as soon as I plug it in and if I pour water in the basket it drains right out.
Tom Goellner: Home Appliance Technician: There are a few reasons it will display the H2O message, and when it does it WILL run the pump.
Tom Goellner: Home Appliance Technician: Let it run the pump until it quits on its own.
Tom Goellner: Home Appliance Technician: Remove the water hoses from the the back of washer and then using a needle nose pliers remove the screens from inside the hose connector ( the washer water valve and see if they are clogged .
Tom Goellner: Home Appliance Technician: If so wash them out and that's the problem.
Tom Goellner: Home Appliance Technician: If not, get back and we can go further, but that's the simplest to do.
JustAnswer Customer: Already pulled the screen from the cold and it was clean although I just ran it without the screen in it and the situation is the same: H20 supply is displayed, no switches function at all ( can't shut it off unless I unplug it), pump runs continuously with lid open or closed.
Tom Goellner: Home Appliance Technician: These washers use a transponder to sense fill.
Tom Goellner: Home Appliance Technician: It sends a signal down the water pressure hose and as it fills it wants to see a frequency change in the hose as it fills .
Tom Goellner: Home Appliance Technician: So, check the hose for a break or more commonly where it connects to the side of the tub a restriction , either in the hose or the connector on the side of the tub.
Tom Goellner: Home Appliance Technician: The best way to clean the hose is to remove and run a #14 gauge wire through it and then wash it out.
Tom Goellner: Home Appliance Technician: If the connector is clogged , try running the wire in it .
Tom Goellner: Home Appliance Technician: If this is not what you're finding as the problem - replace the water level switch - the transponder.
JustAnswer Customer: Earlier I had blown through the hose and it appeared to be clear.
JustAnswer Customer: Just now I went back and the pump was still running so I held the Control Lock button for 3 seconds (Hold for 3 seconds is what it says on the switch)and the pump stopped and it locked.
JustAnswer Customer: I held it down for 3 seconds again and it unlocked.
JustAnswer Customer: Sometime during that lock/unlock sequence the start button illuminated.
JustAnswer Customer: I selected the delicate cycle and notice the cycle selection was also illuminated.
JustAnswer Customer: There is no laundry in it but it appears to be functioning normally.
JustAnswer Customer: I'll let it finish then try a load of clothes.
JustAnswer Customer: The water seems to be flowing well so I plan on leaving the screens out of the water intake valve.
JustAnswer Customer: Any comments are appreciated.
Tom Goellner: Home Appliance Technician: You can use washer hose washers that have a built in screen, not recommended to leave no screen at all .
Tom Goellner: Home Appliance Technician: You don't want any grit to get into the water valve itself - could make it not close completely and washer will fill just sitting there on its own.
Tom Goellner: Home Appliance Technician: If you continue to have this problem replace the water sensor - part number WH12X10556 and is only about $14.00
JustAnswer Customer: Understood.
JustAnswer Customer: Thank You and have a good day.
