We DEFINITELY need an orchestral theme and motif for Superman. It can't just be background music. It needs to elevate the film, like John Williams' themes did. I know that's a tall order, but Superman's music needs to almost be another main character in the film.

A lot of directors nowadays don't really care about themes. I would've loved to see what michael giacchino might've created. He knocked batman out of the park. I'll give this guy a chance..remember it's not just the theme. It's the whole score.

At this point I am almost expecting, and part of me is hoping, that they just defer back to the Williams theme. Obviously with new orchestral arrangements and variations...but I kind of expect his timeless theme to be preserved and used here. The cynical side of me fears that if John Wiliams passes away within the next several months that we'll get the inevitable James Gunn "We knew from the very beginning that we wanted to use the Williams theme, it can't be replaced" type of "in memory of" post.

Gunn confirmed that John Murphy already had the the Superman theme and score written by time of filming. He had at least the demo done that he wrote based on the script that they played on set for mood and atmosphere in between filming.

I was 10 yrs old when I saw Superman: The Movie 1978 in the theater. Before this, I could only see Superman on tv reruns starring George Reeves as Superman. And later the "Superfriends" on Saturday morning cartoons. So seeing Superman on the BIG screen for the first time was AMAAAAZING!!

If you read between the lines of James Gunn's statement, he's basically saying that movie trailers are produced by external marketing companies, and whereas he's there in the editing room for the cut of the film itself, the trailer is a product he can only influence indirectly, by providing notes to the marketing firm that is producing the trailer.

You're describing how most trailers are cut. Point is, he and DC Studios are still the one overseeing the marketing and editing and giving extensive detailed notes, not WB Pictues. DC Studios finalizes the cut.

But Gunn himself said he and Safran weren't satisfied with the trailer quite yet, so he requested additional edits providing notes on what he wanted. As far as any screening of the actual film, that's been happening internally at the studio, but there's been no word on that.

Same, I also enjoyed Superman Returns, only recently just watched all the older ones with Reeve, also finished off with Man Of Steel, and for me Man Of Steel is my favourite, and Superman & Lois is a close second, and depending how good the finale is today, it might overtake Man Of Steel as my most favourite Superman project ever, because that show is so damn good.

Gunn better do AWESOME with the "entire," change to the Superman storyline. The complete changes in actors, giving Clark a poodle to wear on his head, addition of extra Superheroes [in ONE Superman Movie], and so much more, is giving my anxiety. I'm a long-time, die-hard Superman Fan, and although Bryan Singer's Superman kind-of let me down, I've stayed true to my most Favorite Super Hero of all time. I also am truly hoping we do get a nice surprise for Christmas, although, movies like these most likely would be featured in huge events like the Superbowl or something. Crossing fingers!

Yeah you know who said this movie was outstanding? James Gunn, apparently Warner Brothers is not even happy with the trailer they told him to go back and do as many edits as he can to try to make it better because they were not satisfied with the trailer and apparently there's up to six different versions of this trailer because Warner Bros knows that this is the most important movie that they've ever had further comic book future, my personal opinion if there's seven different versions of a trailer then the movie cannot be all that good because if you have enough quality scenes in this movie you should be able to cut together a good trailer, it's not a good sign that the Warner Brothers company doesn't even have any faith in it so far, there's no reason at this trailer or at least a teaser hasn't been put out already I mean what are they trying to fix? Or what are they hiding

I just don’t have another Origin Film in me. If they were to follow The Batman’s template of just skipping any and all origin material, i could be on board. Henry Cavill was far and away the BEST actor to depict Superman in a more serious and interesting way as opposed to the goofy and dated versions from previous films. Zack Snyder did an excellent job bringing Superman to the screen in a more mature and complex fashion. Unfortunately WB didn’t know what they were doing and they messed up a good thing.

As big of a fan of Superman and Batman as I am, I'm getting kind of tired of seeing only those 2 all of the time. that means we'll have 2 different Batman versions, and Justice League has just finished, and now I have to care about a whole other universe? Again?
