You both converted me from high fat to prioritizing protein. I was losing lean muscle and couldn't lose body fat. Electrolyte issues. Now with higher protein I am finally getting results

Thank You Craig for information but still I don't know if I suppose to jump cold turkey once I achieve ideal weight from let's say 1200 kcal and 3 psmf days to 1700 kcal per day for maintenance purpose ( according to Your calculator). I remember when I made some fasts In the past then after some time I had gained weight back due to quick switch to maintenance kcal limit. I would like to avoid such effect and I heard that the best to avoid such situation is to increase kcal gradually. Lilly Kane suggest to add daily 50 kcal, then next week again next 50 kcal daily to the point someone achieve goal. I would be very thankful if You could create video which only focus on effective switching from losing weight mode to maintenance without yo-yo effect. I think this is the hardest part in entire journey and it would be worth just only deep dive in this case.

Hi...I'm struggling.I started Keto 2018 thru 2019. Took an unwanted break until 2022. Been doing great on keto for a year. lost 10 pounds. Stalled, so started carnivore (with psmf) in July. Lost 10 more pounds.I'm 5'2.5", 141, 60 yrs old and fairly muscular and active. My problem is my ketones this morning were 0 and my blood glucose is never under 95. I ate only steak yesterday. Haven't had carbs in a year (2mad) A1c 5.1 Trig 61, HDL 79, LDL 262. I would still like to lose 5-8 pounds but have stalls again.

Just found your channel, we have been carnivore for 33 days now. I am female soon to be 61. 5’6” was 138 lbs. stopped all carbs, no sugar, except I have 1 1/2 cups half calf coffee a day , maybe use 1/4 cup half and half and 2 tsp sugar altogether. I am down to 131 but keep stalling. I have been researching this carnivore diet everyday for 33 days. I just saw where you said stop slathering butter on everything, which still sends me to the bathroom daily. We are only eating 2 meals a day ribeye, beef, eggs, bacon and eggs, and a romaine salad with egg and bacon, which I am finding not really a fan of eggs. The thought of eating an entire stick of butter is 🤢. I am going to make some of your recipes the bread especially. And switch to leaner chicken, filet and still have ribeyes here and there. I still get tired after eating and have fasted up to 24 hours. I have been religious and have only cheated with 2 vodka 🥤 soda and lime twice and of course my coffee. What you say resonated with me totally. I am pretty lean but moving into that belly fat and cellulite phase, which I hate. Thanks so much for the info and advice. Hopefully this helps.

How do we repair thyroid without high fat if fat helps create needed hormones?
@MariaEmmerich Жыл бұрын
It's a balancing act. You need some healthy saturated fats for healthy hormones and nutrient absorption. BUT an over abundance of dietary fat is what yields unwanted weight gain. The trick is getting your macros right for your specific needs. You can do that here for free (PLEASE read the notes at the top of the calculator regarding height, protein needs and body fat percentage and adjust until your goal is within range for your height): mariamindbodyhealth.com/calculator/

Hi Craig, I've been on carnivore for 3 years and have sky high B12 and slightly elevated fasting glucose level. Is it because of too much meat? I have also gained 10lb on carnivore. Some influencers say you need to be in ketosis to lose weight. Do you think the gluconeogenesis on high protein carnivore cause a weight gain?

There is zero correlation of blood ketone levels and weight loss. Getting your macros right is the key to weight loss.

I've done two different kinds of keto One is higher fat and one is higher protein and I'm wondering what your thoughts are as far as muscle building I like to do the higher protein keto but I thought either fats or carbs are an energy source So if I'm doing strength training and I'm not eating carbs don't I have to have a certain amount of fats in order to have the strength and the energy to build and lift weights? So what would be the perfect ratio if I wanted to prioritize protein but also do pretty intense strength training to build muscle and have the actual energy to do so?? Sometimes on keto when I have done a lower fat it feels like my muscles literally turn off in the middle of lifting weights It's like I get three or four lips in and then all of a sudden it's like not that they're weak but they literally shut off and I don't want that feeling..... Any suggestions?
@craigemmerich Жыл бұрын
Muscle is built by getting enough amino acids (protein) and strength training to failure. If you also have significant body fat to lose (more then say 30-40 pounds) you don’t really have to worry about fuel as the body taps body fat for energy.
@loveisallthatmatters21 Жыл бұрын
@@craigemmerich that kd I have maybe 10 pounds I want to lose still and want to continue strength training for many years I also love how keto makes me feel with the exception of my muscle strength. Should I increase fat or even more protein to get the energy to lift heavier? I weigh 160 and eat about 160-170 in protein daily for the last year...I get about 80 grams of fat a day... When I'm not lifting,, there isn't a problem, I feel awesome,,lots of energy to run/walk /anything. It's ONLY in the gym I lift a few reps then it feels as if my muscles turned off,,,not got weak but literally stopped working...I'd love to solve this issue A few months ago I went off keto,,,regular high pry, low sugar but modeycarb diet,,this problem disappeared and I was so strong in the gym. However out of the gym I felt awful. So, I love how keto makes me feel but this issue is so frustrating

@craigemmerich Жыл бұрын
@@loveisallthatmatters21 if that close to your goal weight, then I would focus on body composition and make sure to get enough protein for your lean mass. Maybe 120g or so in your case. Then enough fat to satiety. Also add electrolytes for energy.
