Love your channel! The pronunciation of Chelated Iron is: Key-lated. I'm using Masterblend tomato formula for my tomatoes. First time hydroponics was last year and had a huge yield from 6 plants that took over my 10 x 12 ft. plastic greenhouse in Zone 6b. I've learned so much about pruning and pollinating from your videos. Thank you!!!

I use a submersible pump to mix my nutrients. I rinse it well after using. Works nice and easy plus I can put it in and do other things. Come back later to complete mixed nutrients. You might try one to see if you like it. Then get a couple others, one for each bucket.

Also use aquarium air pump and air Stone in my 5 gallons hydroponic tank, water stay very clear and no débris at the bottom. For your scal, I would look at 4 inch air pads instead of air Stone.

In my hydroponics, I tried round 2"x2" air stones to mix my 55-gallon tanks, but it didn't work for me, so I switched to a EcoPlus ECO-264 submersible pump. You can lay the pump on its side or use 90 fittings make one out or you can make multiple outputs to get the mixing action you want.

I use an air-stone in my nutrient solution tank, which is a batch tank containing all nutrients. I do not use separate tanks with injection as any adjustments needed are easily done in a few minutes each week. We grow roses in an ebb and flow system. The nutrient solution is filtered and returned to the tank. I use the air stone to provide a constant mixing and also to provide oxygen so any bacteria is aerobic. I will take a few photos and forward them to your Bradwood Farm email. Thank you for sharing. Email sent.

I use airstones in my nutrient tank, but it is on a lot smaller scale. I just use a regular fish-tank airstone attached to a airpump. For your setup, maybe look into a venturi nozzle and attach it to the water pump, to keep the water airyated ?

Katie, I don't know about air stones. I would worry about the air injection causing the nutrient mix to oxidize or change, but I would say get a small pond pump and stick it on the bottom of the barrel. It will suck water in the front or bottom and expel it out a top fitting upwards which should give the circulation you want. Even if you just laid it in there on it's side, it would still circulate the water 24/7. A small inexpensive one from Amazon should work ($20-30). One for each tank.

Quite often the residue in the bottom of the tank is not nutrients but the remains of silicates that are used in making prilled compounds, that is, they use silica as the foundation for nutrients, very similar to how raindrops form on dust particles. The residue 9n phosphate solutions is calcium sulfate (gypsum) that is formed when phosphate rock is treated with sulphuric acid to produce phosphate fertilizer. Incidently, in soils, phosphate molecule is tightly adsorbed onto soil and rarely moves more than 2 inches, the residue people see on the ground that people say is wasting phosphate again is calcium sulphate, all the phosphate is gone, ditto for those of us who add calcium phosphate to our hydroponic mixtures, the residue in the bottom is gypsum. Another great video and well shot, thanks Katie and videographer, well cut and polished.

SO, my formula was designed for my source water and won't work for another greenhouse. The best thing you can do is get your source water analyzed then pay a horticulturist to design a formula or you can try and build on with some forms that are on the net. I think it cost me $200 and think it was really worth it.

Thanks for the video. I have a small basement system at home for my lettuce but wanna try tomatoes and cucs in my small basement greenhouse. It's not big enough to constitute 3 separate holding tanks. Is there any major concerns with mixing the macro and micro nutrients together in a single holding tank. I typically just monitor my ph manually since I'm never constantly adding more water. Also, is there any major concerns when it comes to alge forming in the system or on the planting medium cubes (I use a rockwool cube and have notice a considerable amount growing on top of cube)
@HomegrownPassion

Keep your growing medium covered as long as you can when sprouting. The only thing I know about mixing all the nutrients together is get a salt built up. Not sure about the science but something to look up.

@@HomegrownPassion Thank. But in the video, you mentioned that tanks A and B are set to 0.5% and the acid 1.2%. This looks like more acid is being pulled than the stock A and B. Is the acid pulled together with the A and B every time?
@HomegrownPassion
@HomegrownPassion 4 ай бұрын
Yes but the concentration of the tanks is different. We don’t use a strong ph balance. We could make that tank more acidic and lower the percentage injected we just didn’t. It’s just where everything is at the right values on the monitor system. That’s what good. We can adjust on the fly.
