OMG ! - our alarm system (not monitored) has been driving us mad for a couple of years - beeps at 1030 at night every night. Back up battery issue I suspect. Now disconnected back up battery and pulled out 12v main wire. Thank you Jordan you bloody legend !. 🙏

I will add my thanks. I had discontinued my service with a major company, and several months later started getting a bf (backup failure) alarm. I particularly appreciated your reassurance that I wasn't going to electrocute myself or blow up my house. Philosophy majors find the real world sort of intimidating.

Your instructions were so easy to understand and I had our system disconnected in no time. We've lived in this house for 3 years and never had the alarm system activated. We thought one of our smoke alarms was beeping and a battery needed changing, but finally figured out what the beeping was when the alarm started going off. Boy was that loud! Thanks again for a great video!

That daily beeping sounds like a reminder to replace the backup battery. If you still want your system, you might want to try just replacing the backup battery in the panel, and plug the system back in.

Because we dont use it anymore i thought i would be a good idea to just turn the system off, i found the box and unplugged the wall socket, but i noticed that the keypad was still active and also the strobe light out side of the house was flashing (no noise though),, ive been serching the internet the last 2 days as i did not know how to turn the strobe light off, after watching this video i disconected both terminals from the batttery and it worked a treat,,, the panel was not active at all and the strobe light was off! Mr. Jackson, God must have put you on this earth to keep people like me from blowing holes in my ceiling with my rifle trying to stop that infernal alarm. I want to blow away every round white alarm in my ceilings. I have been drawn crazy with this alarm system. I would rather be surprised and fight off intruders with a baseball bat or just let the house blow up rather than to hear that darn thing go off AGAIN. Almost every time I bake something (it goes off every single time I make lasagna) or beeps when the wind blows or electricity is interrupted. Nothing, and I mean nothing, is as insanely aggravating as these alarm systems. There’s got to be a better way of security. But for now, I have my 3 best friends .....my baseball bat, Mr. Smith and Mr. Weston by my side at all times. Thank you, THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO.

Once you have removed the main power and standby battery the sab in the bell box will sound the bell or siren for a while and you won’t be able to stop it unless you go up to the bell box and remove the power in it Mabey your alarm systems in the USA are fitted different but in the uk we fit the self activation module ( SAB ) in the bell box that powers the siren or bell if it loses power from the end station

My concern about disconnecting an unused home-builder installed alarm system s having the control panel continue to make sounds even after power has been removed. I would like to power down the entire system semi-permanently (no power but leave the hardware for possible future use). I would remove the battery cables, then the transformer from the electrical socket, unscrewing the wires from the transformer. Do the control panel have residual power via a capacitor, similar to smoke detectors?
