@Sydnie weather tech makes complete vehicle window shades custom to your vehicle. It will block out a lot more light. I grew up camping but unfortunately my family doesn't like it. I did just go for a few nights at Allegany in a rustic cabin with a Woodstove for heat. Had a great time with my son! NYS has a lot of great places to camp.

I got excited when you went down the peninsula because it's not far from where I live. Then as I watched and saw the Ripley sign I got more excited and then saw you in Mayville coming to the intersection of 394 and 430 and it made my day! I live in a small town about 10 minutes from there! You were just down the road. If I was to guess I would say you camped by the Chautauqua Gorge State Forest or Mt Pleasant State Forest. At any rate I'm happy you stopped by my area and enjoyed it!

Presque Isle is really beautiful and peaceful. Glad you got a chance to check it out! As far as things to do in between, when my wife and I were dating, we drove from DC to Erie and stopped in Punxsutawney for lunch. They have an interesting exhibit about Groundhog Day, and you can see the actual groundhogs.

Without cell service you have to relied on the map Your Dad use. If the grid goes down, this way of doing things is very good , once you get your confident up, and also ask people at the general store or quickie mart.

Nice vid Syd. 😊 You were close to my neck of the woods when you went to Erie. I live in Michigan, not far from Lake Huron. Glad you got to experience for the first time in your life, standing next to a Great Lake. The water temp is a bit chilly to go swimming this time of year. Don't be too freaked out over Bigfoot. He likes to put the fear in pretty young girls, but I heard he's actually kind of a wimp. 🐵 See you in the next one as your adventure continues.

Sydnie, you should think about getting a gps for your car, then you wont have to worry about cell service, they work from satellite, not cell signal. Look at Magellan or Garmin, I think you could find one that's not that expensive. I've had good luck with Magellan in my older truck that didn't come with a navigation system.

@@sydniestateofmind You are right. Mine was about $500.00. I have heard that in the long run, especially as a content creator that is often way out in the sticks that it "pays for itself" in reduced gas costs. I don't know how true that is, since I only really do instagram atm.

You should pick up and Atlas of the United States from a gas station or book store for back up when you can't get service instead of guessing. That only leads to hours out of your way at times.

Bigfoot is not really a thing in upstate New York, despite what any wishful thinking locals might think. You're more likely to run into a semi-lost hunter. (They can't find where they parked the truck). Slaínte.☘️😎

I agree that you don’t always need to be on your phone. In some cases you need service for directions, gas, groceries and so on. Most people her age have no clue how to read a paper map. Not trying to criticize, but truth is the truth. I enjoy your travels and have been doing hiking of my own. I don’t live in my vehicle. So, kudos to you. Great job.

I enjoy your videos but a couple of ideas: 1 the drive away shots don’t really add anything significant to your storyline because each time you do them we all know you must go back to retrieve your camera. Maybe hovering your drone capturing your drive away would be more entertaining (but unnecessary). 2 not sure if you are aware but you can download maps for an area ahead of time so if you lose signal you can still have a map to use.

I was born and spent the first 14 years of my life in western New York state. It sounds like this is the area that Sydnie is in now. I can tell you that part of the state is beautiful! Close proximity to both Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, not to mention Niagara Falls. Winters can be extreme. I am curious as to which TV channels you are watching.
