An important thing I did not mention in the video that relates to vehicle financing: The short of it, as someone who does not have a residence in Haiti, AND is not employed by a Haitian company, you will not have access to Haitian financing. But the thing is, even if you did, you wouldn't want to use a Haitian bank... they charge 20 % - 30 % interest of average for auto loans. Yes, you read that right. Instead, build up your credit in your home country, and take out an unsecured loan that you can combine with some cash. Unsecured loans are usually 6 % - 7 %. in America with good credit; tremendous savings relative to Haitian bank interest rates. Go that route. Forget about financing from a Haitian institution.

But maybe the loan in Haiti is demoniated in Gourdes, so if the Gde. tanks 23% vs. the dollar (again), maybe those 20%+ loans don't look as bad as you thought ... ? Long time since I was in Haiti, so I might be wrong. Pls. correct me, if necessary.

Which is the problem!! Having everything in US $ is what is keeping the people poor and the country in deep shit. the US needs to stop imposing itself in out country and stop interfering in our affairs. No native Haitians not even diaspora can afford shit in Us $$ specially foreigners who come and buy businesses and housing and rent them or sell them exaggerated price that no Haitians can afford!…

I lived my whole life in Haiti and still do. I had three cars over the course of my driving time. Two Dahatsu Terios and a Hyundai Santa Fe. I'm realizing I know nothing about cars because of our patriarch culture. My Dad always bought, sell, upkeep his babies cars (my sister and I) 👀... I guess my husband will inherit that chore 🙈...

Can you tell us about rental car like HERTZ and other U.S. based car rental in Haiti: Do they rent cars using the same process in the United states? Example: same price a day, weekly? And tell me about using DEBIT CARD to rent car from them in Haiti or cash?
@WifeMomNurse777

There’s a $2000 hold on debits. It’s the same process with credit cars. You just pay for the reservation online and pick the car at the airport.
@whitesnow5684

WifeMom&Nurse $2,000 holding! That’s not the same process because in the U.S. they don’t charge no more than maybe between $200 to $250. $2000 is for rich people.
