To those who don't know. Shaun Morgan wrote this song for his brother Eugene to help bring him from his depression. Eugene went with them on tour, and while in Rapid City South Dakota, Eugene jumped from their 10th story hotel. Shaun was one of the first people on scene when they pronounced him dead. The music video was made in memory of Eugene, you can see Shaun with tears in his eyes in several scenes.

This song legitimately saved my life. I had been suicidal from the time I was 12. I listened to this song every day in high school and college and it got me through everything. When I saw them live for the first time our car broke down pulling into the venue parking lot. When we finally got to the venue this was what they were playing and I started sobbing, gripping my friends hand. I thought how fitting it was that the first song I heard live was the one that saved my life. Some people think it's cheesy to say a song or band saved their life but Shaun definitely saved my life with this one.

It's not cheesy, I could rattle off numerous tracks that have helped me out of the darkest spots. If anyone says it's cheesy they are a type of negative you are better off passing by. That's a lie. Things get worse, then they carry on to get even worse.. and worse. What people need to do is try to figure out if their life means anything to anyone other than themselves. If there are people that care about you, you should try your absolute hardest to stay strong for them. And if you have nobody to care, try to reach out before you give in. But if you truly have literally nobody to leave behind, then go in peace. We are all destined to die after all.

His brother actually committed suicide and the lead singer,Shaun originally wrote this song as a form of theraphy (I don't know if that's a right word) for his brother but he committed suicide before he can show him. While making this video, the band had to shoot three times because Shaun can't keep himself from crying

On October 31st 2008 one of my best friends Ryan Auther committed suicide. I was one of the last people to speak with him before he left us. Thank you Shaun for giving him this song as a way for his memory to live on. It is beautiful and even though he never had the chance to mend himself he did go to a better place. Shaun's emotions are shows so clearly in this song. His brother committed suicide after this song was written. If i'm correct,he wrote this in hope of his brother getting over his situation. But sadly, later on he lost him. Shaun had to do 3 retakes while making the video because he kept crying where the emotion got him. I feel it so well and understand with my own experience of almost losing someone to a attempt. This song hits home.

it was after his brother ended himself that he wrote this. His album was close to release, and so he quickly made this song and the video to add to the album as a memorial.

I've never publicly commented on any song/subject before in here. But, after reading the story behind this song, I must. This song has meant inspiration and hope for me in some dark times. I never fully understood that it was about suicide just listening to it. Terms like depression, anxiety, isolation and addiction didn't exist in my family growing up. Men were supposed to be men, you didn't talk about it, nor knew how to. I have definitely contemplated suicide a few times. Today, I'm a recovering addict and life is pretty damn good. I discovered that my desire to live outweighed the pain I endured. Not an easy road of discovery. If saying something in here helps just one person, than what I went through, still go through at times; was/is all worth it.

I too bro almost ended my life, you ain't alone man, im recovering too. I just said I don't wanna do this anymore. I let all my hurt go, my father passed away this year. He tried to reach out to me , but I was so upset how abusive he was to me and my mother growing up. I REFUSED to accept any apology. Later on my aunt called me to tell me he passed. I finally felt like I was released from him. Dealing with a bunch of other things. Having PTSD from being shot in the chest, which I never knew I struggled with for years. Until I saw a doctor. I realized that I needed to make some changes. No matter what we go thru its not our fault. It just takes good people to understand where we come from and pray for us to get better. My prayers are with you always man. God bless hope you live the best life God has in store for you. Your not alone.

@@zerocool3394 man, thankyou for reaching out. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it, how much it means. I too have PTSD which I found I've probably had for years. It actually was liberating to find out, it explained a lot. It was an answer, not the only one, but a major piece to the puzzle. Today I'm still clean and sober and actively go to trauma therapy. I still have some bad episodes, but I get through them, never desiring help from drugs or alcohol. This is our time now, our time to live, our time to thrive. I won't be denied what I deserve..... Happiness and the chance everyday to be a better person. Intrepidness and unparelled strength is on our side. Take care, try to help others when & where you can.....

This is the most passionate and meaningful song I've practically ever heard. He wrote this about his brother committing suicide when they were younger. I'm depressed. It's hard for me to feel emotions. I just can't... but watching him cry at the beginning while looking at the camera and seeing how much he loved his brother makes me feel. Sorrow, but at least it's something. Amazing song!
