Other franchises: hey, we have recovered this lost media. Madou/Puyo: hey, we have recovered this lost food.

Now we just gotta pray SoA doesn't mangle Puyoman into "Dr. Eggman's Steam Beans". I could smell a strike from where I am.

Nice to see an another obscure thing Compile used to make before they went bankrupt, but i don't know if they will be available for long or will ever leave Japan due SegaSammy's market practices, but they have a very high chance of being successful for the company.

Great summary of why this is a big deal, I'd never seen some of this footage before! As a big Compile era fan, I really hope these stick around and I can perhaps try one someday. (And that they shell out for the Puyoman name.)

I remember buying like the this squeeze splat jelly food that had squishy splats promotional stuff on it and I remember it had flavors like "Green Apple Nick" "Lemon Lime Carbuncle" "Blueberry Lydia" and "Sour ??? Fruit Quickesy" sadly they don't exist anymore but pretty much they are the western equivalent of this.

I live outside of Japan, but someday I hope to try these, they’re adorable and look delicious!

All I want is English remasters of the Disc Station trilogy complete with voice acting.

In all seriousness, never in many a year did I think this could happen. If they're planning a wider, public release, that means they could have the time they need to contact Moo Niitani to get the recipe right and D4 for the name.
@Nenilein Жыл бұрын
They already got the recipe, the problem is that some of the ingredients just don't taste the same anymore as they did back then. Farms might've closed, spice manufacturers gone out of business, etc. etc. 😞

I'm still confused why they didn't just try marketing Puyo Puyo to the west if they were going bankrupt. Anime style was becoming popular by that point so they no longer had to worry about cultural modifications like they did with the first game. Hell, SEGA has Puyo Puyo now and STILL barely markets it in the west.
@CommanderWiggins Жыл бұрын
It honestly probably wouldn't have been successful enough in the west to save them. Anime and casual puzzle games weren't nearly as popular in 2003 as they are now. But I do agree that nowadays Sega could definitely be marketing it better. An easy to pick up and play puzzle game with cute anime characters has a decently sized demographic in today's gaming market.
