can someone please remind me of the name of the show at 9:23 ?

Honestly, having Lucas base his whole moveset around *his own* PK ability is quite clever to differenciate him from Ness. And playing as him feels pretty delicious, more than Ness, at least in Ultimate.

If it were for Brawl, I would have kept thinking Lucas was a crybaby. Among other things, this is one of many why I hate Brawl. Seems like no one in the team, not even Sakurai, had played Mother3. Lucas is actually supposed to be a lot more serious than Ness.

I don’t feel like we need Mother 1 Representation in Smash because the characters there would have pretty limiting movesets (and I’d rather have Mother 1 be cool alt or trophy).

I definitely believe Giygas/the Mani Mani statue influenced Pokey's actions, but all it did was strengthen impulses and negativity that were already there. Plus, Pokey made the choice to say yes when offered all that power, thinking he could change his circumstances and triumph over his abusive parents with the power of money alone. His heart and mind were weak and easy to corrupt, but he still made the choice to BE corrupted.

Tbf, he was only around 12 when this happened and we saw a bunch of adults under the influence of the Mani Mani Statue who are not really that bad like the happy happyist and Monotoli, I dont think he had something to say about being influenced by it.

When it comes to 'theory vs headcanon' I think headcanon feels better because it's more personal. The word itself implies it's just in the writer's head. They're not trying to present it as plausible or convince others of it neccesarily. Where as calling it a theory suggests evidence to back it up and the idea that the writer thinks it's plausible.
Great vid, cheers to you both, collecting mother memorabilia really is relationship goals. Cheers to Katie especially, she seemed a bit nervious, but she pulled it off quite nicely!!

Brawl's interpretation of Lucas wasn't true to the character, but I still liked his relationship with Red in Subspace Emissary.

I think a cool way to include Kumatora is to give her Lucas' moveset and redo Lucas and Ness' moveset to be more original.
@axelsonicsson7160Ай бұрын
You could argue Lucas being afraid is because he's first shown by himself. In Mother 3 he at least had his dog Boney after he lost his family with him later getting Duster and Kumatora, but in Brawl he's just alone and sad.

I think using the fact that you can't hear Claus's in-battle heartbeat isn't evidence at all of him not having heartbeat at all. The only way to hear an enemy's heartbeat is to put them to sleep, and bosses can't be put to sleep. You might as well say the Oh-So-Snake doesn't have a heartbeat, or the Fierce Pork Trooper.

The idea to change Hinawa's name to 'Amber' wasn't just 'because it would sound more natural in English'. The names 'Flint' and 'Hinawa' together are a pun on the Japanese names for a flintlock and matchlock, two types of gun. The idea behind 'Amber' would be to preserve her name being a pun with 'Flint'.

I gotta be completely honest, considering the learning of new PSI abilities is preceded by a fever, I always just interpreted the hot spring scene as Ionia holding Lucas under hot water to raise his body temperature and stimulate PSI activation. Not even anything deep or symbolic, haha That aside, as a nonbinary person myself, I think the Magypsies are largely just fine aside from, of all things, the name of the group containing an anti-Romani slur. While they do perhaps bear some resemblance to stereotypical portrayals of transfeminine people, I think their portrayal as elegant, sympathetic, kindhearted characters sorta flips the potential negative impact of that on its head. The problem with those stereotypical depictions is the association of people with the relevant traits with (often sexual) moral depravity, not that that flavor of gender-nonconformity is in itself somehow bad. The Magypsies have almost the opposite intention behind them, portraying nonbinary and gender-nonconforming people as having lives and perspectives just as valuable and worthy of respect and additive to the world as anybody else’s. I get why their designs might evoke a negative gut reaction in people expecting them to be the same played-out transmisogynistic stereotypes, but I find that in reality they’re actually a pretty refreshing subversion.

As far as the “Porky is innocent” theory, I’ve always interpreted Giygas’s effect on him (and others, too, actually) as a sort of warping and exacerbating of dark parts of Porky that already existed, using them to lead him on into the role he eventually plays in EarthBound. That said, I think Porky made a lot of choices of his own, too, and was obviously no longer under any sort of control from Giygas after the Chosen Four destroy him. So, Porky’s “start of darkness”, as it were, was perhaps kickstarted by Giygas but was ultimately a collaborative effort they’re both culpable for. That’s how I see it, at least.

i’ve been fascinated by earthbound 64 since i was like 5, when the fan translation was relatively new my dad installed it onto his pc, he was explaining to me how the gba version came to be and gave a basic explanation of its origins on the n64. later on i did my own research, i learned how the game evolved over time. anyway, i still wait for the day that i can experience the prototype of the original version of mother 3.

Is there any concrete evidence for the Jonathan Banks connection other than the fact that they kind of look similar? I honestly doubt it since, while he was in a lot of movies and shows, I don’t think he was really a big name in the way he is now thanks to Breaking Bad. His most famous roles were probably Wiseguy and Beverly Hills Cop, and he wasn’t bald or white-haired in either of those.

Okay so the video is awesome and all but the answer to the pigmasks question has a VERY simple response and it's the same inspiration that created dath vader as a character for example. Nazis, specifically imperial japanese soldiers and nazi japanese soldiers from WW2, Itoi has a clear anti war anti capitalist anti imperialist stance in his works, he might never admit it but representing those soldiers as nothing more than useless dumb pigs was DEFINITELY part of that message

This is a pretty good video however, and this is not your fault at all, I'm always bothered at moments like 14:12 where they mention The Dollars Trilogy but skip talking about how it's a trilogy and instead just say "Oh, For a Fistful of Dollars (which kickstarted the Spaghetti Western genre) and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (which many insist perfected a lot of it)". Specifically, how they always skip talking about FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE (1965) which is in some ways better than For a Fistful of Dollars. The sequel bangs! It has a way better antagonist, an amazing soundtrack by Ennio Morricone (just like the rest of the trilogy but still) and some great visuals and story. Hell, go look up "For a Few Dollars More - El Indio's Showdown (1965 HD)" in KZbin right now. That's one of the best introductions for a despicable villain I've ever seen. The music, the editing, the framing, the dialogue, it's all so good!! It's not nostalgia blinding me here. That's just cinema! I understand this is a video about EarthBound 64 but I will NEVER waste a chance to try and sell people on watching that movie.
