I am 62, never knew i had needs. I thought my job to care for others was who I am. It's a lil scary but also exciting to explore other ways to live. Guilt has been a problem, i'm working on reframing to acceptance, responsibility to myself. I am ready to grow up, mature and thrive;-)

Thank you so much! I tend to the self actualization too much, because almost all my life (and I am 44) I didn't have the rest of the pyramid met. So doing that, was a scape ongoing copying mechanism, to at least, try to keep my mental health the best I could. I have a history of all kind of abuses and being neglected since my birth. I am putting all my efforts to overcome poverty, healing myself and being able to provide for my 20 y.o. kid. She also has the same pattern of scaping into the upper top of the pyramid to cope with our reality. Sometimes it is the only area where we can take action and get some positive result.

It really helped me to hear your thoughts on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs…for ex: -eating for self esteem vs for physical sustenance, and not feeling guilty for not eating a perfect diet. -sacrificing in order to attend to sick family member is a form of self care…I needed to hear this because many self help experts are framing self care (and even healthy boundaries) in a way that feels a little too egoistic to me. -not feeling guilty if we can’t attend to some higher needs when life requires us to work two jobs, or of we’re recovery from a stroke for ex. Thank you!

I feel like I heal myself provide myself care when I'm being an example of not being my pain. When I create safety nonjudgmental support motivation for my s/O's children I feel it helps me heal. I do put my needs behind those I love. I have found humility to ask for help but then I quickly realized it takes more humility to let people give me the help asked for🙄🤪. It's a REAL battle for me but at least I'm in the fight, which hasn't always been the case. I appreciate the video and your sharing

Recently my therapist recommended I do some research and practice Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. I read a little online but didn't really get it. Then, I came across your video and it was clearer to me. I'm sure I'll watch it a few more times. Thank you so much for your video!

My mother and father are involved, parents. And they had to remind me of this same framework thing you speak of. Thank you for these helpful tips

I feel I had been giving the self-actualization and safety more focus than my physiological needs.

Your videos and help for others are commendable. I have used your diaphragmatic breathing, grounding techniques experimentally and they seemed helpful.

I probably skip sleep. I work at a nursing home and we are in a pandemic. I often feel so busy I feel like I am trying to meet other people's basic needs and tend to put my wellbeing on a shelf. Its really hard to take a lunch when you have someone who is really really sick and needs attention.

Sometimes I sacrifice self esteem for belonging in a relationship but that is evolving.

I love your point about how taking care of our loved ones is also self care! :) Very thorough for Maslow's hierarchy in terms of self-care!

Thank you so much for this, it's crystal clear now, I will definitely use this information in my own practice to help people with self care and with analyzing their needs. Love the thing you said about food, exercising, where that can belong in the pyramid and also love what you said about taking care of others. Thanks a lot!

I'm making myself my own mother from time to time .In fact, all of the time. The veggie survival soup smells auspicious . Can we say that of soup. Needs checking. Baked survival cookies too.

When there's a healthy connection from one ear to the other , with some gray / white matter involved , the rest is based upon that . Even from the reference point of a chair on wheels . I'm good. I'm normal , even a genius. ❓
