I remember when I was in school junior high and above, I did not want to get up and go to church because I wanted to sleep, but when I got there and listened to the sermon, I was so glad to be there, I had great JOY in the Lord! I had a good Father who knew the importance of attendance at our church!

You must know that this has an attached transcript. Thank the Lord, I spent hours a day journaling sermons, of Dr. Charles Stanley daily for over a year. So thankful for Alistair to have provided this transcript. Some words are off due to his beautiful accent! I like to have it up while listening. Two senses working together allows me to remember more, and the odd word makes that possible too! LOL

The hardest part of my walk is that God loves us as a father loves his children. I grew up with no father and my dealings with him was him rejecting all of his 4 children in court and in his actions all my life. I'm 64 and this still is incomprehensible. (A love of a father). I go to counseling and its still hard, I believe the balance of a father and mother in a family is essential for children to grow up in a balanced life, with the appropriate boundaries, etc.

Juanita Clifton Dear sister, You just spoke the story of my life. I am still living through that nightmare & reliving it again with my husband divorcing me. I am hanging on to our Lord for dear life & still praying for my marriage to be restored but my husband is not a believer & he is bitter against Jesus & me. I agree with you; all my life I could not conceive that a father could love his children. I still struggle with our Heavenly Father’s love for us. I believe as you do that children NEED both parents MARRIED under one roof. I too have gone to counseling for a long time but now I am just taking a breaking from it. I think pastors across the country should teach from the pulpits about husbands/wives roles & father /mother roles in the family. I don’t believe people know this & we should.
@canndo14 жыл бұрын
Odd that those of us who were rejected by our daddy’s either throw all caution to the wind and embrace God as our Father and others of us who can’t trust that anyone could love us because we MUST be too unloveable for even our fathers didn’t love us. My father said he loved me, cried that he did but I only saw him 10-15 times in my life for moments only. My stepfather rejected me because I wasn’t his. I became a Christian and I know God loves me but I keep doubting - myself - maybe? Oh for that day when there’s nothing but Love and no doubting that I’m worth Loving. Thank You, Jesus for dying to show me Pure Love! One day...

I grew up with a dad that was either ignored me completely (he never wanted me even at birth) or yelled in my face (everything was always my fault). not once did I ever hear him say that he loved me and showed no love. my mother emotionally gaslighted me making me feel like I was never enough. I therefore grew in a life that was without God and actually any chance I got I'd persecute Christians. somehow God decided to call me out of the mess I put myself into and I'm starting to learn how to walk with him. everything I wanted my from physical mother and father, the love, care, trust, and relationship I have found in him. it's small steps at a time, but he's there and loves us all.

“Become by grace what you are”. This is so important for the believer to understand. Our identity in Christ is not some future thing, meant for the future. It is meant for now. Our citizenship in the Kingdom is now. Abundant life is doing the will of God and it is now. Being clothed in the righteousness of Christ is now. We need to understand our identity. We need to understand who God is and what He has already done through Christ. It is finished! Eternity has already started. Fellow Christian, eternal life has already started. Live by the Spirit and allow the renewal of your mind to match the new heart you have received through Christ. If you stumble, remember He is faithful. He will never forsake you. On Friday He showed us He was willing. On Sunday He showed us He is able! He lives! He lives in you, now!

Although i love alistar, i dont find this message to be revelatory, its true but the message doesnt speak to the issue at hand. If we would realize Grace is the Divine Power of God affecting our hearts to reflect in and through our lives. We are instructed in Phil. 2 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. So it's fearing and trembling in our conscience to be sensitive to God who is working in us. This ignites the life of Christ in us to exercise self control. The fear and trembling is being humble. God gives His grace to the humble.
