I kind of hate that the anime cut out Namari's explanation of resurrection mechanics to the twins, especially the fact that once the body is missing more than 40% of its mass that resurrections' spell failure chance is increased exponentially. Decreases the tension of this episode's final scene quite a bit.
@Egavans5 ай бұрын
Yeah, as an anime only (at the time I first watched this) I was a little confused by the tone at the end, like, "this is what they wanted to find, right? Why is the soundtrack acting like they've just found something horrifying?" Would have made that ending hit harder if they'd taken a moment to clarify that a body reduced to a skeleton has Genshin Impact gacha odds of being resurrected.

More than 40%? Worse, its more than 1/13th.
@ma.20895 ай бұрын
@@Egavans didn’t they say that you need the body? If the body isn’t whole enough how can they bring her back? I think it worked even without the explanation cuz they also said at some point that resurrection can fail proportional to the state of the body. I think Marcielle mentions this early on when they found that one corpse being digested by the plant.
@captaincomic86785 ай бұрын
Oh see as an anime-only I was immediately like "oh she's a skeleton, can't resurrect those", which was helped by the fact that up to that point all examples of resurrection were of bodies that were completely intact apart from mostly single injuries.

I have seen some Made in Abyss comparisons to this series, but I like that you mention "the old DM isn't going anywhere," because MiA actually did lose a little bit of the adventurers' spirit in the movie and season 2. Literally, Riko is the only one carrying that theme foreward by the end.
@Gogito45 ай бұрын
@@michaelcreel6522 Yeah, I think most people sell this as a twist that changes the trajectory of the series, but I think that's a bad way to put it as it can put off the people that liked the first half but and also give people that want a MiA like total tonal shift unreasonable expectations. Kui got more freedom to do what she wanted, she didn't change ideas partway, she just got the go-ahead to add the wilder stuff.

It was mentioned I think early on. Problem is that anime watchers will likely forget it by the time this part comes. But I remember Marcielle mentioning that resurrection can fail, and it depends on the state of the body. Luckily for me, I watched this back to back so I hadn’t forgotten that info. I guess they thought since they said it earlier it would be extra effort to repeat it. But maybe they should’ve kept the explanation later on and kept the previous explanation short.

Also it's so funny watching Caleb shoot Jacob's ideas down at almost every turn even though Jacob is sometimes SPOT on. Case in point, the END of the Falin "memory" was obviously supposed to be Falin "talking" to Laios subconsciously prior to him finding her skull. Or that the anime’s explanation wasn’t good enough? None of that has to do with tone deaf American stuff. Plenty of Americans got the point being made just like you, so you’re not special.
