My one gripe with the plot of Turning Red is...Mei's mom never prepared her for the change into her Red Panda form. It came earlier than expected, but if it were to be known beforehand, than there'd be no story
@PlanetZoidstar2 жыл бұрын
@@shro_okee True. It just feels like a massive plot hole given what a control freak Mei's mom is and somehow nobody in their extended family ever addressed it beforehand. But yeah. Plot hole needed for the story to "work" Like how Buzz Lightyear thinks he's real when no other toy (except Buzz 2) thinks this way. Nobody thinks it's normal so clearly Buzz is an unexplained anomaly. Or how Bo Peep's entire personality is retconned in Toy Story 4 or Buzz suddenly thinks his buttons are speaking to him. Or Mike teleporting from the Himalayas to Monsters Inc in the third act. Or how the doors can access the Human world when they're on the conveyor belt. Massive plot contrivances to make the story "work" Pixar movies do this alot. They will overlook major plot holes to facilitate the story. These aren't minor nitpicks, they are massive plot points that the story could not function without ignoring.
@shro_okee2 жыл бұрын
@@PlanetZoidstar "massive plot contrivances to make the story "work"", you're right. @@shro_okee It could have possibly been fixed by having Mei being told about the curse but blowing it off as one of those lies parents tell their children. I don't actually believe that was the intended message either, something more akin to "family is important, and so are your dreams, you need both in a balance." @paul_particularlyunhappynut2 жыл бұрын
What makes it not make sense? I think your first one is right cause she can control it (happy thoughts), and the mother still doesn't exactly approve of it, (even if there basically is no downside at all to the red panda being out to the public anymore, as if there was no conflict in the first place), but she decides to go with it anyways, hence the phrase still probably just a mid millennial joke but yea

And for that party she sneaks out to go to. She’s getting $200 for being there for an hour. Where she can give the kids ride on her panda, take more pictures, and all dance together. An hour. Her and her friends don’t even have to brings gifts (it’s a birthday party). She can’t last an hour and her and her friends end up hanging on the kids roof eating most of his birthday cake. When he (naturally) gets upset with her she yells at him (because her friend got the date wrong on for the concert, and it’s actually on the same day when this old shaman guy seals her panda in her body). Anyway, she yells at the birthday kid to “shove off” and to “shove his deal” after he brings up that deal. He yells at her go home to her creepy temple with her weirdo mom and she attacks him with the very panda that was used to fight battles. Hurting him. By the way, she never apologizes for nearly killing him. She runs away from her family to go to the concert where they see him. Then they become friends.

The natural woman always has a way of writing their desire to think and act as irresponsible and narcissistic as they please without ever having to suffer the consequences of their actions: gynocentricism in its most disgusting form. They believe they universe itself must capitulate to appease the desires of the natural woman, and _they_ are a woman, so therefore the universe and everything within it exists only to cater to them. They refuse to repent because their solipsism has them fully deluded into thinking they've done nothing wrong. This is why The Big G told Eve: *"Your desires shall be unto your husband, and he shall rule over you."* Literally the first time a woman's desires were unto herself, she cause The Fall of the entire human species.

@@chrowx I haven't seen FLCL, but going from what you said, you missed my point. There are many puberty/coming of age stories. My point is this: There's a fundamental difference between the messages of Turning Red and the theoretical male version of the movie. We embrace everything about women, it's all about learning to accept and be yourself with everyone having to accept you. For men it's basically hide your flaws and the 'beast' within, and that the world is going to be unfair to you and you just have to learn to take society's abuse of men in the @$$.
@chrowx2 жыл бұрын
@@studiodaeera FLCL features a young man who is dealing with alien machine monsters emerging from his skull in a fashion is that very purposefully meant to be phallic. For a while, he even has a horn-like protrusion on his head that he desperately tries to hide until a tense situation boils over and he loses his cool, exposing his horn erection to his classmates in a humiliating scene... which leads to a mechanical monster running amok around the school. The rest of the very short series deals with identity, growing up, hiding and revealing who you really are, and being honest with yourself and others.
