I thought I was being smart and brought small bills to Ghana in December. Wrong, if you want to exchange money at the mall, bring larger bills the rate is better. Even at the apartment I rented, they would only take $20 bills and up.

(1) Go to Ghana , open a bank account (2) Have your Bank in the USA , Transfer the money to your Bank account in Ghana (prefer a dollar account). (3) Have some of this money invested in Government Bonds, this will arrest inflationary effects , because money do lose value as time goes on. (4) ENJOY YOUR STAY IN AFRICA

How do you transfer money from your US Bank of America to your momo?
@Mark130919612 жыл бұрын
I use World Remit (from my UK account but expect its fairly similar to The US) .... but many on here are reporting issues. Ive used them for 4 years and they’re the best of a bad bunch, but there are new one springing up all the time. Watch out for the exchange rate, i use XE money (phone app) to get the actual exchange rate, then compare to your company of choice to see how much they are stealing from you! - the new e-levy will hit you on the ghana side. Each of the remittance transfer companies (remitly transwerwise world remit etc) have different thresholds limits which can be a nightmare of frustration finding out. Also the local momo company imposes transaction threshold which vary according to what mood they’re in. For example MTN (the most common local SIM momo carrier) imposes a 5,000ghc limit per month per SIM but also a 5,000ghc max wallet limit, so you must withdraw each time before attempting to send again. Good luck
@kojoa70222 жыл бұрын
U may have to go through one of these; Wave , world remit, tap tap send etc. So ur BoA debit card would be captured here to help send money to a mobile number or bank account in GHana.

Only my opinion but I think the reason the remittance companies have recently sprung up is a direct reaction to just how bad and inconvenient the traditional methods are (direct wire, western union, moneygram)
