I just recently went to iron on the 362 , I pushed the rear sight forward because in the OEM position the rear is too close to my eye . I'm pretty happy with it now .

When the scope is mounted to the breech it can be misaligned with the barrel , with the iron sights both front and rear are mounted on the barrel itself

When I get the video edited I’ll post it. It’s weird to me, I have to adjust the windage shooting from 35 yds to 50 yds. On all my other guns I just need to raise the elevation or use the mil-dots on my scopes that have them.

putting a scope of whatever quality on a pumper air gun is going to always move so slightly and always awkward during pumping and during the slamming of the pumping arm could affect scope also.
@airgunsofalaska Жыл бұрын
Yesterday I was left wondering if something is moving between shots while pumping? The scope rings are definitely tight. I’m disappointed that I had to go through the gun tightening loose fasteners but whatever, that’s easy enough to do. I’m torn between wanting to figure out why it’s inconsistent at long range and just being done with it and move on with life.

I've got one of these too. I like it but it pinches my fingers if I'm not careful enough. Check the mount to dovetail connection. My mounts don't really seem "sharp" enough to bite into dovetail that great. If yours have any less bite your scope could move a bit. ? maybe?
@airgunsofalaska Жыл бұрын
I didn’t think to check that. I was very disappointed in this airgun and sent it back for a refund.

I wouldn't dare to guess why, there are so many possibilities. Parallax issues, harmonics, bad scope, lose barrel, bad loose scope rings, and on and on, but I am glad you are starting to see light at the end of the tunnel, I assume you know if your scope is functioning properly.
@airgunsofalaska Жыл бұрын
I continued testing afterwards and installed a known good scope, the one off my Air King. I know for certain that scope has no issues and I still ended up getting large groups and inconsistent accuracy at 50 yds with it. I don’t get it?

Mine is.177 caliber , so I mounted a Hawke Airmax 3x9x40 AO on it hitting squirrels out past 50 yards using 7 pumps with 10.5 grain Crosman Ultra Magnums . Have you tried different pellets ? Those Crosman 14.3 are usually very accurate in all of my 22's . My first one that I sent back had every screw it owned loosen up or fell out , even the trigger group and sticking in both directions . Number 2 is different so far ? I noticed you don't use the full arc of the pump arm , does that make a full pump ? I use the full travel of the arm , unknown if its good or bad . Some clean the barrel right out of the box. I Normally don't .
@airgunsofalaska Жыл бұрын
It could be that the .177 model is more accurate than the .22 version. My .22 model is not accurate past 35 yds. I believe this is caused by the barrel moving around too much between shots when used with a scope. It appears if a guy shoots iron sights you are actually better off at longer distances as the iron sights move with the barrel. Of course you then have the limitations of iron sights. I’ve had fasteners fall off my gun and screws continuing to loosen up. I cleaned the barrel after my first shooting session and then went through another shooting session testing different pellets. The pump handle does not need to be fully closed around the pump tube at the end of each stroke. There is a metal linkage piece that rests against the tube for a full stroke. The handle just moves past that point to “park” onto the tube. In summary the gun is fine for shorter distances but is not consistently accurate past 35 yds when used with a scope. I really like the trigger on this gun but I hate the weird pumping feel. I’m sending it back. I looked into some means to brace the barrel but was unsuccessful.

Good shooting. I thought the bolt needed to be pulled back and left back (opened) and then the gun can be pumped up and then push the bolt forward with a pellet loaded?
@airgunsofalaska Жыл бұрын
It has to be cocked 1st and I’d just load it and then pump. If it isn’t cocked the air just runs out the barrel as you pump. I never tried cocking it and leaving the bolt open while pumping. The excessively long bolt would overhang the grip in that event and make pumping pretty awkward.

the scope is damaged inside loos parts lenses or reticle , or the gun has loose parts, springers are scope killers ,but pumpers also with the knocks by ever pump . and parallax can be a spoiler

What’s weird is after this video I installed a third different scope on the gun and saw the same inconsistency with accuracy past 35 yds.

I'm surprised! Guess there is hope for it. Yeah that kind of accuracy with irons is about what I'm getting with the Stormrider. I'm sure I could do more with it but I mainly got it to emulate my first airgun which was a co2, it does that so I'm easily pleased haha. Others might want more for $200, I'm not sure.

@@airgunsofalaska IKR it'd just be easier to write it off as a turd and forget about it lol. Maybe those 3 barrel screws are a problem point, I was just looking at mine looks like they really cranked them down at the factory, I'll check those first if anything happens to the accuracy.

@@yoitired I sometimes have a tendency to get obsessed and enjoy traveling down the rabbit hole trying to figure something out. But, it’s easy to lose sight of the big picture. If it wasn’t for the comments and advice from viewers I’d have given up on this thing already. I guess the good thing is that I’m unlikely to buy any more new guns for a while. very interesting. I am glad you are still testing the Dragon Fly. Seems that some tools are unique even when mass produced and could have a sweet spot that just needs to be dialed in (by an evil genius?!!). hmmm maybe you should measure your arms too? lol we could track your progress over 6mo, 12 mo, 18mo. etc. With a few 12oz curls and the different mechanics and motions between your various pumpers and springers, 'arms day' will apply both literally and figuratively.

seems like gun is working good if hitting your targets using open sights then barrel rifling good nothing is loose. root cause is the scope then. or another problem could be alighnment issues with receiver to barrell you can see with your eyes barrell can be to the right or left slightly or up or down slightly then when you adjust scope too much in a certain direction it could be at the end of adjustment and it wont be accruate. but if alighnment on barrell to receiver looks good you look on the top of gun or diffrent looks sidways if it looks good then it is scope issues something inside the scope or mount screws get loose. but ya good shooting using open sights. love open sights or peep sights. much more effective for me anyways.
@airgunsofalaska Жыл бұрын
I did have to adjust this most recent scope a ton to get it on target. I’d not even thought about the adjusters be close to their limits. That seems like a very probable cause. I suspect I could use a level or metal straight edge to check the alignment of the barrel to the receiver. 🤔 This is very helpful, thank you! At the end of the day this is just a tube sticking out of the end of a block of metal. There was so much whip with the barrel it could easily have taken on a poor alignment.
