I found Milton under a car with an infected wound that was full of maggots. He had a large tumor and a bladder stone and also suffered from pneumonia. We are so lucky to have the loving medical team at CARES that takes care of our rescues and nurses them back to health. I adopted a 9 yo dog and was his 3rd home. It took a few months for him to come out of his trauma shell and trust me, but once he did, he came ALIVE, his personality exploded. He's 16 now, and living his best life. Adopting an older or disabled or ignored animal is so rewarding, giving them a happy secure retirement is an honor. ADOPT!! Thank you for what you do.

I foster OVERWEIGHT SENIORS that are DUMPED at our local rescue and give them REAL DOGS LIVES and they go from not able to walk to running and sniffing and enjoy their REAL FOREVER HOMES !!! I actually helped 33 dogs before My Harvey who was 9 years when he came to me and 140 pounds...similar to the other doggies but he was so HAPPY even though he couldn't move, my husby fell in LoVE and adopted him...people interested in Harvey wanted to "give them their couch" because he was going on 10 years before he was healed from OBESITY to the MAX....but he is now 14 years and still running at 6300 elevation in an Enchanted Forest where we live....he is deeply LoVED without over feeding....I teach all these animals to LOVE VEGGIES in addition to the amount of fuel they need for the weight they are suppose to be....Harvey, came to us named Hades, and was 140 and now has been his 85 pounds for 4 years....LoVE him sooo deeply...gonna go hug him and his sister, a rescue that was dumped on her first b-day....

We adopt seniors rescued from Amish puppy mills. Even though they aren't used to being part of a family, they quickly learn how to make up for lost time. It is a very rewarding experience.

As gross and disgusting as the maggots are, they are actually often helpful because as he mentioned they only clean out and consume dead tissue. Lab grown versions are even intentionally used in medical settings to debride human wounds.

I live with two senior males. A sixteen year old Papillon mix and eleven year old Pointer mix. I do hope Milton finds a new home with a loving family to spend the rest of his years with. So glad you rescued him, his wound was horrible and the tumor was bad. God bless.

I can't imagine how dogs like Milton feel, going from a home where they think they're safe to living alone on the streets in this condition, abandoned by the people they trusted. Milton's, Jordan's, and Fiona's rescues are the saddest I've ever seen on this channel. A blind dog living in garbage, a tiny boy sitting on a chip bag with a horrific leg injury, and Milton lying under that car just waiting to die. They are all so fortunate that someone decided to contact Eldad about them. I know that Milton will find a loving home with a family that deserves him, just like Fiona and Jordan did. ❤❤❤

Poor Milton. Seeing so many maggots writhing around was horrendous then to hear poor Milton also had a tumour (non-cancerous I hope) and pneumonia on top of it, it's a miracle he survived. A day or two later and it might well have been too late. I really hope he gets a loving home soon. After all he's been through he deserves to be happy and loved in his twilight years. Huge thank you to HFP, the veterinarians and all involved in Milton's recovery and care.

When our Irish Wokfhound X passed we moved to a retirement complex where you were only allowed small to medium dogs. So we decided to only adopt seniors. Having only ever had large dogs it was quite a journey as we have found them to be far more stubborn but full of quirks and gratitude. Often they have “hang ups” from previous mistreatment but you work around their issues. They have been 10 years + at adoption and have bought us so much joy and love. I would highly recommend adopting a senior, it is so rewarding to see them relax and trust again.

As someone who only adopts senior animals this had me in tears! He didn’t get this way over night. I don’t understand how anyone could just dump an animal on the streets to fend for themselves. Our country has to do so much better. There are to many strays on the streets. We need a national registry so people who neglect and abuse can never get an animal again. I’m assuming Milton got adopted because I don’t see him on their website and I do see Champ.
