1. Thanks for the advice. I'll make sure to implement your strategies. My right knee started about a month ago & my left knee about a week ago.

I watched two of your videos and have a much better understanding of what causes my knee problem. Using your techniques. I am avoiding pain when getting ready to stand or sit. I also can walk much further with better posture and without depending so much on my cane. I am able to walk around in my kitchen without using it at all. Thank you - you are making a difference.

Thanks you for demonstrating walking heel to toe compared to midfoot. I have seen other sights that have encouraged walking midfoot. They did not explain it or DEMOSTRATE as well as you did. Now I understand.

There is another way to increase stride length without reaching out forward further, which is to push off backward further, by both coming up onto one's forefoot a bit further on each step, and also swinging out further backward. This requires working on calf and gluteus strength and endurance. I co-lead a hiking group. The other leader is no taller than I, but walks much faster. He does exactly this -- pushes off on his forefoot on each step, and swings his whole leg out further behind. (Note that coming up on one's toe with the foot behind is easier then reaching out forward with one's toe. You can stick with the more comfortable whole-foot landing / rolling motion, and not have to attempt to support your weight on your toe in the awkward forward position. I'm sure all the forefoot-strike proponents will come after me at this point...but it is just mechanics. The forefoot strike with the toe extended is like the top of a calf raise with the ankle extended -- the hardest part. Coming up partway on your forefoot when your leg is behind is like the stronger beginning of a calf raise. Think about doing a deficit calf raise -- what part of the form fails first? One can typically keep doing the deficit part of the movement for much longer than raising up fully onto one's toes. If the forefoot-strike folks want even longer steps, they can use their calves on both beginning and end of the stride...but it's less tiring at the end. :D)

If I take the injection in the knee it helps relieve the pain for about 3 months is it good to take No
@More4Life
@More4Life 2 ай бұрын
That's a discussion you need to have with your doctor based on your medical history. For most people a single cortisone or similar injection isn't too bad, but they do have side effects, so if they're needed every 3 months, those effects can compound over time. Furthermore, there's probably a reason that things keep getting re-aggravated (other than just arthritis), so it's a good idea to figure out what that is regardless of whether you do or don't have an injection.

I have COPD I 68 but I do go to the gym on the treadmill, I struggle with my left leg,seems heavy My question is having COPD I can’t do nothing to change my walking
@More4Life

This is more about gait patterns, but with COPD breathing exercises along with a progressive walking program (Under the guidance of a healthcare professional) are probably your best bet.

What if you walk on the treadmill and you have weak but sore knees (both) do i persist and carry on? Or walk at a slow pace? 2days ago i spent 12mins on a treadmill But!! At - 2.4km/hr ,what do you recommend?
@More4Life

What you're doing sounds reasonable, but it's different for every person. Exercise doesn't have to be 100% pain-free, but it also should NOT be extraordinarily painful or feel like your knees will give out. Walk at a speed and duration that you feel safe doing, and then gradually progress with time as you're able.
