Jada doesn’t have an auto immune disease. She admitted that she has traction alopecia, caused in her case by misuse and/or overuse of weaves, extensions, straightening chemicals, etc… usually reversible when you stop doing all that crap to your hair and let the areas restore. Also it’s not complete baldness, it’s simply a couple small patches of bald spots. It’s not like she has cancer or something. That’s a bit reaching. Not to mention Chris Rock didn’t know her reason for sporting a buzz cut, which is literally what she has. He believed it was just another Smith family statement look what she had. Their daughter doesn’t have her light case of chemically induced alopecia, but she has the same buzzcut. His joke was lighthearted and was a comparison to a strong female lead character. To which Will laughed and only reacted once Jada gave him stink eye.

Exactly. Alopecia is not even a real disease. It is a condition that most of the time can be reversed. Even stress can cause it. Also, if she is uncomfortable with it can use a wig. No one would even know she has a problem. A lot of black women even cut their hair short to wear wigs. Or just a hat, or a turbant, or a scarf..... man, alopecia is the last thing you should feel bad about. People dying in Ukraine, cancer, AIDS, and this b*tch is making a scene because a few hairs fell??

Anyone defending Will's actions obviously has a warped sense of what love is. Will laughed at that joke knowing his wife had Alopecia. We all saw him. I honestly don't think Chris Rock would've used the joke had he known her condition. She's had a super short style for as long as I can remember. Not everyone follows her. I had no idea she had Alopecia. I think it's funny that it was ok for her to have an affair with their SON'S friend & then basically tell the whole world it was her husbands fault, YET he's supposed to defend her HAIR!!!!! Also, I totally watched her say how much she LOVES her bald head!!!. GI Jane is a badass chick. Jada's obviously not a strong enough woman to be compared to her. She could've taken that mild joke as a compliment but she's nothing but a trouble maker. Chris wasn't making fun of a medical condition. It was a joke about her hairstyle & seemed to be nothing more than that. Will just destroyed what shouldve been his proudest moment as an Actor to defend his wife's hair.! At the very least, Will is taking responsibility for his actions while his wife & son are saying "that's how we do it"!!!! I'm sick!!!.. Chris handled that situation unbelievably well. So much respect for him .

You would think a ‘normal’ person, after a momentary emotional breakdown of extreme anger and having an uncontrollable outburst, would calm down and realize what had just happened. And most people feel immediately horrible about what just happened. This does not seem to be the case with Will Smith. After this rage and many minutes later he stepped up on the world’s stage and proclaimed with gritted teeth how he was now in the business of ‘protecting’ people. He apologized for his behavior but not to Chris Rock, because at that point in time he was in ‘protecting’ mode. He also proclaimed “Love makes you do strange things.” This is correct. Ask OJ about that. While you’re at it you can ask an unhinged stalker about that also. That is a very true statement. However, maybe Will thought he was saying that in a positive light. Then……he went out for a night of partying and celebrating and laughing and dancing and having what seemed to be the time of his life. In other words, zero remorse. Could this be the behavior of a narcissist? Then, probably, later in the evening or the next day there must have been a damage assessment. Probably publicists, lawyers, friends, family, etc., all chimed in and there was probably a group decision that an apology needed to be extended to Chris Rock to hopefully quell the backlash. That personal apology (probably written by someone else) seemed to ease the public outrage for about an hour and a half. But, the public outrage renewed. Social media is a hell of a thing. More publicists, lawyers, friends, family, hunkering down trying to figure what to do next. When confronted with the realization that public opinion was growing more against Will, we got the resignation from The Academy. Which just means he doesn’t get to vote for nominees in the future. He can still get nominated and win another Oscar. So the resignation doesn’t seem to be a big sacrifice. It is, of course, intended to protect him from losing his Oscar which he wasn’t in danger of losing anyway. In this written (again, probably written by a publicist) resignation and another apology we get the added “heartbroken” explanation. This begs the question, when did Will actually become ‘heartbroken?’ We know the heartbreak had to come at some point after the award acceptance speech. It would also appear the ‘heartbreak’ had to occur after the night of celebrating and partying. Was it later in the day on Monday? How about Tuesday? Is that when the heartbreak kicked in? After the Chris Rock apology? Or did heartbreak kick in later in the week when it was clear public opinion was still not favorable at all? This aftermath appears to be a well coordinated PR machine in operation and none of it truly at a deep personal level from a single individual who has a genuine conscience. In other words…phony. With this entire part of the current dilemma behind us the next stage will be, was the resignation and ‘heartbreak’ enough to save ‘the career’ of Will Smith? It doesn’t look like it. Up next! Why the outburst ‘after’ laughing at the joke that supposedly set him off? This part right here is very telling. What possible explanation could there be for that? This is where the publicist will really need to make their money. Because whatever the explanation, other than the truth, will be seen as absolute total bullshit. And even the truth will probably be a career killer. The public knows bullshit when they see it and they don’t forgive bullshit. And they never forget. Jaden, this is how the public does it.

Ron, everything you wrote is in sequence of everything he did that night. Will's career is in the toilet now as far as I am concerned. It was such a cop-out for will to resign from the academy. He's got too much ego to realise that he's in the wrong and produce an actual, a real, apology. @@sadem1045 It's done the opposite, the streisand effect at it's work. Comedians are making much more fun of Jada and will now. It's also much worse to assault someone, than make a joke. I couldn’t believe it when Will Smith, upon accepting the Oscar, claimed he was crying because the slap took attention away from Venus’ and Serena’s father and family, who deserved honor and respect. Although, if he admitted the crying was due to what I suspect was the real reason (that he realized he would do anything to gain his wife’s love even though the effort would be futile), his self-respect would have sunk so low as to be unsalvageable. Chris Rock is a star in more ways than one. A true role model. And if Jada was truly sensitive about her alopecia, she could have worn a wig. ‘Nough said.
