Seriously though. I was blown away when I realized that Serena and her sister are pushing 40, I thought they were in their later 20s, maybe 31 tops. They have fantastic genes. Generally you have to pick between your face or your body when you're an athlete, the Williams sisters seem to be an exception.

As a Filipino-American, I love coconut but not on my face. Young coconut water and its young soft meat is a perfect drink. It's loaded with vitamins and minerals and when served cold, it's a very nutritious & refreshing drink. Thank you, Susan for your honesty and tons of infos you share with your audience 🙂

While this all true, it’s still absolutely insane. As an Aesthetician, this made my insides burn 😩. Just because she gets facials, that has nothing to do with at home care. What your Esthetician does, is deep clean/treat your skin. You on the other hand have to TAKE CARE of your skin all those other days until you go back. That’s like going to get your hair done, and doing absolutely nothing after to maintain, keep it looking neat and expecting it to look the same way the next time you go back. I wish more black women would educate themselves on proper skincare, and stop thinking that good skin means just coconut oil or Vaseline is skincare, because it’s not. Black actually does crack especially when not taken care of properly....

Susan, thank god you're a sane person who addressed the idea of her putting the vitamin C/retinol product on her 1 and 1/2 year old daughter. While I love and respect Serena, that was the most stressful skincare routine I have ever seen in the series as it was, and then putting those products on her child is what nearly made my jaw drop in shock. I mentioned my concern about that in the comments of the original video when it first came out and said that I hope someone close to Serena will one day give her a heads up to skip putting that on her baby. I said that it's worrisome to think about what the damaging effects could be of further sensitizing a baby's already sensitive skin at such a young age with the use of actives (imagine the potential for premature sun damage!). I received a TON of bitter and bullying replies calling me a mommy hater and many more even worse names and accusations. Kind of crazy. I think there was only one single woman in the replies who pointed out that I had never said anything insulting, just expressed my concerns and that I had Serena and her daughter's best interests in mind. Who knows if Serena will ever realize these points, but I also just wanted to potentially educate any other moms watching the video who might think it's cute to let children use mommy's products too. Couldn't believe the overblown reaction I received to that! So glad to see that you agree. Very validating.

Yes, I saw your comment and all the stupid replies. The people saying, "she is a good mom and she would never do anything to harm her child" are just silly. Of course, she wouldn't INTENTIONALLY do something to hurt her child. That is the point. She likely doesn't know that Vitamin C is an active or that it has retinol in it. She thinks it is just another moisturizer, but it isn't. I really, really hope she is slathering that baby in SPF every morning because the sun is damaging enough without the added retinol and vitamin c, so just imagine how much that is being multiplied when she applies it to her child's face? I really hope someone close to her does tell Serena soon that she shouldn't be doing that.

It's really worrying, and I wish there was some way to shoot her a message and know for sure that she'll see it. I know how much her and her family love that child, so I'm holding out hope that someone close to her will realize the intensity of the ingredients and respectfully mention it to her since her routine is up for viewing now.

@@brittany3095 It is pretty surprising that Serena is making that mistake, but I think Susan made a very good point when she pointed out that if you don't know anything about what vitamin C does when it's applied topically to the skin, you might think it sounds pretty harmless... I guess most people just think of it being good for your health/immune system when ingested, so they would never imagine how powerful it can be when used in our skincare.

Well, maybe you have just been told that the cheap natural stuff is bad for your skin. Poeple who have high blood presure get all kind of drugs for it when it is actually cheaper to start by organising your diet, making sport. Many won't need any meds once they change their eating habits. I'm with Serena, coconut oil all the way, never have breakouts.

Ascorbic acid is highly acidic, exfoliating, and irritating... not for kids, not being used for an actual medical reason, and not supervised by a pediatrician.

I think Serena is confusing herself with combo skin because she still breaks out frequently (as you can tell when you watch her play- she has a lot of acne scarring). She would likely not be combo skin if she actually washed her face properly. She needs to have a facialist work with her properly to get a correct cleaning routine.

It was encouraging that you said you're more okay with coconut oil on the lips. I actually love coconut oil for removing stubborn liquid lipsticks. Then again, I haven't worn one of those since I overhauled my skin care, so like my balm may do the trick, but those are just a nightmare to remove.

I just discovered you on the video you did with the make up artist who transformed you into the classic movie star from the 1930's Merle Oberon. That was absolutely a stunning photo shoot.
