@@chuck8094 .... True. That is a term used mainly in the USA from my experience but it does cover the legal precedent I mentioned. That ruling was made before speed cameras and other Police enforcement cameras existed but the Police are quite happy to use that precedent to allow them to photograph the interior of vehicles, and the occupants. Auditors are correct when they respond," And what is wrong with that?" , and that is why the Police then move onto the allegation of interfering with the vehicle.

After noticing they can't intimidate him with 'I will arrest you, I will search you', they start to lie and manipulate. @@johnvienta7622 I agree with johnvienta7622. We can't know whether they would have started something like this on their own if they had not recognised AB. Doing this was the fundamental problem. Recognising AB pushed them towards having the courage to disobey a command from their sergeant. Had it been someone other than AB, the risk of getting in trouble for disobeying the sergeant would have been far greater, and it would have been far less clear that their sergeant did not have a legitimate reason for the search. That's the problem with all command structures. Often there is no time to communicate all the details that justify a command, and even when there is, people are often too lazy, too bad with language or too agitated to do it. Therefore when someone new arrives on the scene, it is the normal case, not an exception, that they don't really understand what's going on. But they are still expected to follow all commands whose basis they don't understand. Except, of course, for commands that they _know_ to be illegal. But that's a very high bar that is rarely met. Arguably it wasn't even met in this case. This is why refusing to follow the command took courage.

Would love to see your reaction when a car thief has a fancy to your car and fancy’s a nice little scope out, actually it might be funnier if the local thief fancy’s a good legal look at your house next time your on holiday. You’ll be straight on to the police. 😂😂

@@CovKid2K10 There could be many reasons for a person to look into a car window. Why do you assume they are a thief?

@@kevinthegerbil2708 Sometimes I'll look in cars the same model as mine to see if they're in as good condition as mine, or what options they might have. Also models I might be considering buying in the future, or even just cars I think are cool.

The two lads said something very interesting "if the Sargent wanted you searched he could do it himself" just shows they've been shifting responsibility for unlawful stop and searches by getting lower ranked pcs to conduct the search. Any officer suggesting to a lower rank they should search someone is as good as clear proof of knowing a search is unlawful
