Hey, 2 series finished is better than none so take that win hahahah I really hope you continue with First Law standalone, because I personally think you will love those a lot more just based on my own experience. Also, get on Dragon Your Bones alreadyyyyy!!! Hope you have fun continuing with all these series, happy reading 🥰

Oh I really understand your problem with Best Served Cold. It was so hyped and then... Just like you said, predictable and really a bit sloggy 😂 Heroes was just very interesting concept-wise. I'd actually say that you don't have to read Red Country to understand the last trilogy.... Which I like so much more than anything that came before that, especially now that I read The trouble with Peace. Amazing character work 😊 I actually did finish some series I started, even though I didn't start that many. I hope to finish some physical books before the end of the year 🙈

I’m glad someone felt the same way about Best Served Cold! The last trilogy is what has me hanging on to hope, Mr. Abercrombie is firmly in the maybe pile 🙃 Happy reading!

Reading older stuff like McCaffrey is such an interesting thing. I can totally see how the misogyny would make it unpalatable, and to be honest, there are probably better books. Hers are historically important in that she did things that were either innovative or at least elevated certain themes and tropes in the genre, but I'm not sure that's a good reason to read them now unless you're aiming to be an historian of the genre (which, as far as I can see, you aren't). Then, for me, there's the additional value of nostalgia, which doesn't do anything for you. I still doubt I'd re-read those books.

I certainly liked that aspect of the McCaffrey books, it’s really interesting to see where some modern influences come from! I also really enjoyed the sci fantasy blend from a work before my time. I can appreciate the work and also that feeling of nostalgia!

Come on slacker you have so much Drizzt left...I think we are up to book 39....xD sometime I will actually get on top of my series and figure out what series I have accidentally let slipped through the cracks but I do a semi decent job of finishing series I like to think (according to my spreadsheet I did finish 15 series this year so that's solid it feels like granted that is a little inflated by realm of the elderliness because I am pretty sure I counted each trilogy as a separate series)

39! Good heavens. When do I get to the Shark books of Forgotten realms 🤣 I need to rewatch your video of the series breakdown! 15 series is a solid effort!!

@ threat from the sea isn’t super related to any other series in the forgotten realms so you can pick up that trilogy whenever it sparks joy!
