And their paychecks. Officers can get bonuses and promotions based upon "community interactions." Guess how they actually document those? By running your ID through the system. So they either want your license or for you to verbally ID to them, even when you are under absolutely no obligation to do so. We also know that officers are allowed to lie to you to get what they want. That means they will lie to you and insist you HAVE to ID to them, even when you do not. They will even threaten you with arrest if you do not, when you are still under no obligation to do so.

You don't need any license or certificate to serve legal paperwork. I once did it for an attorney to help offset my own attorney fees. My favorite was when I had to serve a stripper. I acted like I was going to put money in her G-string. Instead, I gave her a subpoena. 😅

The idea is that the lawsuit payouts would come out of the taxpayer's pockets or insurance. Either way, this costs the city more. Once the lawsuits start piling up, the politicians that oversee the budgets for law enforcement will come down on the higher ups and tell them to do whatever they can to reduce the number of lawsuits. Hopefully, honouring the constitution will be what they choose to do.

It’s very encouraging to hear how optimistic Sean is about the sign coming down. It’s especially encouraging since it sounds like Sean has already listened to the circuit courts oral arguments. Sean is the perfect person to take these cases to the higher courts. If the circuit court rules in his favor and the NYPD Appeals to the Supreme Court, then I want Sean as the plaintiff. Sean also has another case pending in a Midwestern state for filming inside a government building. Again, he is the perfect person for this case. Both of these issues need to be settled definitively by the high courts- hopefully the Supreme Court.

nypd cops are still protected by the city; it’s very rare that a cop will have to pay out of their own pockets if found liable in a civil court. In most cases, the city still covers the judgments leveled against the dirty cops with taxpayer money!! They also cover the legal expenses via the city’s law department!! 😡
