So happy to see a reviewer test the temperature and provide the graphs. Having the temperature that you set be the actual temperature is sorta a safety concern and I can't believe how many you-tubers don't think to actually test that. So thank you for that!

I bought a Setpower fridge based on one of your reviews and I love it. It’s great for keeping perishables fresh while the RV fridge comes down to temp. That said, the 12V lighter socket is garbage and if it wiggles around at all the power is cut, resulting in spoiled food. I emailed Setpower support and they sent me a new 12V cord with a different design that works a lot better. I can’t believe they’re still including that awful connector on new models.
@Jasonoid Жыл бұрын
They need to offer a power cable with an inline adapter with like 3 options. Imagine SAE, XT60, a 12v socket, or Anderson Powerpole (hot swap whatever end you want).

bought the Pt45 and the FC15. Had to return the PT45 because the smaller section would not cool at all and the large section went to -10 regardless of the setting. Just returned the second/replacement PT45 because when i first turned it on it issued the E3 error 3-4 times and shutdown each time. Finally got it working and when the setting was set to anything below 20, the temp display was 10 higher than the actual temp. It sat for a week, off/unplugged. When I turned it on I again got that E3 error several times before I could get it to finally work. there was nothing blocking the air flow and it was in a cool section of the house. there was absolutely no reason for the E3 error. Pretty disappointing as i had high hopes for this unit and i was looking forward to using it on fishing opener this weekend. The FC15 worked fine right away, but it has also be sitting for a couple weeks so probably should run that through some testing and make sure. SetPower's customer support was very helpful once you got their attention (which took a day or so). Seems like a decent company, unfortunately 2 bad units in a row and i'm done.

I like that these seem to use more vertical volume. Floor space in a tent can be at a premium and it can make it easier to fit in a car too. Wish the 55 had wheels and a handle, but I guess it could be carried with a folding hand truck with big wheels. The last camp site had the car parking about half a mile from the tents and my wagon was already full. Thank you for doing the ‘hot closet’ test 😊, very useful for those of us in hotter climates. Last month I went with my son on a scout camp and the high was around 87F. A regular cooler with lots of ice blocks was starting to warm up after 24 hours. I have a Bluetti 3B3A and a 200W panel so it could keep this going during the day no problem, but not sure if it could last the night though. How long can these keep cold without power in lower temps? It got down to the upper 60s overnight during my that camp.
@Jasonoid Жыл бұрын
This form factor will fit better in smaller vehicles for sure! As for staying cold without power, they tend to stay cool for a couple hours, especially if the temps are lower and theres no sun directly shining on the fridge. All depends on how much mass you have inside. Maybe you could freeze water bottles in the smaller compartment and then put them in the fridge overnight to keep things cooler? The EB3A might be able to get through the night if it was fully charged before the sun went down. I tend to lean to the larger power stations for that reason. If it's cloudy I'll get a bit longer runtime.

Made my day. Every time you do a fridge review. Makes me happy. 🙂👍 Running a dual zone is pretty heavy on power. If you don't need it. I'd forego it. If you are just a weekender or what have you. A single zone will do you good. Especially if you are running a smaller power station.
@Jasonoid Жыл бұрын
Yeah, those freezer temps make the compressor run much more often! Having two zones gives you a bunch of flexibility. I probably need to mess around with options, for example, if you want slightly chilled beverages, put them in the small zone set to 48F. All your other food can sit in the larger zone at 38F. You could do the same setup with produce and fruit in the small zone and all other food in the large zone.

Wow! This is what I have wanted Iceco to do for years - smaller dual zones, although I like the recent Iceco you reviewed. I just can’t fit it in my SUV. Sounds like a great unit. How would you compare it to the Iceco JP series? They look similar in many ways. Thanks for a great review.
@Jasonoid Жыл бұрын
The JP series are similar in form factor but they have the Secop compressor. They are lightweight and designed for smaller areas as the storage space is more vertical just like this one. The older JP models (JP30, JP40, JP50) aren't dual zone, they have that horrible 'half divider' which gives a temp difference between the two sides. The new JP pro's (JP40 Pro, JP50Pro) are a single zone which is nice. SetPower has done an excellent job with smaller dual zones. They have the RV45/60 series that have the removable divider and this one with two dedicated zones. Hope that helps explain the difference. That are all around the same efficiency, not bad at all.
@litnoregrets7551 Жыл бұрын
@@Jasonoid Thanks Jason. I know how much time it takes to respond to questions. You are rare and awesome for doing it. I didn’t even check out the RV series. So many great options from SetPower. I have their smallest FC model. It works well, although I sometimes wish I'd bought the next size up. I've given a larger Setpower as a gift. They're at the top of my short list, primarily on budget, but they wouldn't be there at all if I doubted their quality. I almost wish I needed another one, but we just don't have the space for it, I've been running a Foho 54Qt model 24/7 for at least a couple years now, set at 15F to freeze flour to kill bugs. I don't know what duty cycle these small compressor-coolers should be able to maintain. Have you had any of yours die of use / old age?

I don't use mine daily, just for camping use. Maybe if I ever get a freeze dryer I'll use them to pree chill / freeze my food. You're a great resource to know how long they will run until dying since yours are going non stop! Haha

Jason, being retired as an IT engineer I really appreciate your videos. Question on your Wh test for 0 degrees and 37 degrees. Could you verify which section was set for 0? I would most likely set the smaller section for frozen foods. I am estimating the size is about 46% of the larger section. My use for this unit would be primarily for use in an emergency situation where I would transfer food from our home fridge/freezer and on occasions when we need extra cooling capacity.
@Jasonoid Жыл бұрын
Hey Roger, during my testing I was running the smaller section as a freezer and the larger section as a fridge. This would work well as a backup fridge during a power outage.

Recently sold our RV with a 5 Cu ft DC compressor frig. When we lost power for extended time we transferred food to the RV. I just purchased a Pecron E600 and trying to determine if there is a 12v cooler that makes sense to purchase with this limited power station.
@Jasonoid Жыл бұрын
There's plenty of capacity in the E600 to power a 12v fridge for a couple of days. Pair that together with around 200 to 400 watts of solar charging and you'll be golden in a power outage or camping with a 12v Compressor Fridge.
@rod2625 Жыл бұрын
Thank you. Somewhat confused as to how to determine Wh on the frig as it cycles the compressor. So is this SetPower unit running on low power setting a good solution? Living in the PNW winter is generally worse time for power outages as well as solar. I had 400w of solar on our RV and currently have 6.03 kw of solar on our home which is of no help currently in a power outage. I will probably start off with a XTAR SP-100 panel to begin with.
@Jasonoid Жыл бұрын
@@rod2625 power consumption is measured with a watt meter while plugged into the wall. Take the total watt hours used over 24 hours then divide it by 24 gives you the average wattage (example: 480 watt hours / 24 hours = 20watts on average). Running on ECO mode is just fine, I never run my fridges on max mode.
