@@LaurenceP-art thanks so much for making this it’s helping tremendously definitely having trouble with my brain though trying to compute how to measure out the largest colour wheel you did keep making the circle but I can only get in 16 lines! Lol I have had a head injury so that’s what I’m telling myself! 😂 I’m just going to copy one on the internet I can’t figure it out myself unfortunately!

I love this idea of an art bullet journal. In colour theory pinks and rose colours are categorised as cool reds so you could try using your pink in your cool colour wheel. You will get a very vibrant purple with the pink and your warm blue.
@LaurenceP-art2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for this info! All reds look warm to me to some extent so I was kinda struggling haha. I'll try it again with pink! :)

I LIKE this idea. I'm going to modify it to make it so I can LOVE it. I'll use watercolor paper, and put it in sleeves in a binder. (Scrapbook!). My color swatches will be all Blues on one page, all Reds on another. (I'll use the pigment to determine if it's red or violet or blue, etc.) With individual sheets, I can rearrange them, and if I screw one up, I can start over! Thanks for the basis of a great plan!

New subscriber and beginner to watercolor here. This video was really interesting and very helpful. Hard to find videos on color theory that explain the warms, the cools, the cool warms etc. and how the colors work together. Thanks. I love your Swatch book and how you’ve set it up. That’s the type of thing I love. 👍👍

Transparent allow a LOT of light to pass through. Opaque reflect all the light and let NOTHING through. Therefore, semi-transparent, let most of the light through but REFLECT A SMALL PART. And semi-opaque, REFLECT MOST OF THE LIGHT but let a small amount through. 😉

Hi laurence, I am so happy I found your video. I was thinking to do a swatch book (not card) in a more organised (?) way. I also do bullet journal and I wonder why I never thought of combining the two. I am very inspired and so ready to start mine. How’s your progress so far? :)

Cadmium is not cool. It's a warm red. If you want a cool red, you need a quinacridone or a naphtol. Though I'd suggest going for quinacridones as they're more lightfast than naphtols. Quinacrdione magenta (PR122) is probably the most magenta of them all, though most people prefer PV19. Another interesting cool red that is less pink is PR209. Also, cobalt blue is probably the most neutral blue. Neither cold nor warm. For a good split blue duo, the most usual is phthalo blue GS (PB15:3) and ultramarine blue (PB29) For the yellows, you picked two neutral yellows as well. One option would be to pick lemon yellow (or any other neutral yellow) and something more orange, like PY110.

Thank you for all of these informations! At the time, I tried to pick from what I already had which was not ideal (and I guess it explains the weird color mixing...). I did not have the appropriate colors! I created a new watercolor palette that I hope will be good for mixing and I tried to fix these mistakes. The video is coming soon and I would appreciate it so much if you told me what you think of my new choices! If you want to though, no pressure. I think I'm going to do an updated version of this swatchbook video with more accurate informations. Thank you again, I hope you have a good weekend! :)

Measuring and drawing all 70 pages seems very fidgety and inefficient. I would recommend that once you've settled on a template, you should transfer the blocks onto a hard cardstock or plastic sheet that will serve as a stencil that you can lay onto each page and just outline the standardized blocks. Or unbind pages and run them through a printer to apply your templates.
@LaurenceP-art11 ай бұрын
I thought about doing something like that but then I got lazy… I don’t really measure my pages anymore but when ever I feel more in that « bullet journal » vibe, then I might put more effort in the measuring and making everything perfect

I really wish that people making tutorials would refrain from using a musical background. It is a nightmare for the hearing impaired to separate the speech from the music. It is even more difficult if the speaker has a foreign accent as well. This is a video that I really wanted to watch, too.😢 I think that this is such a good idea. Maybe the music can be removed and the video re-uploaded? 🙏❤️
@LaurenceP-art11 ай бұрын
I'm taking note of it! This is a really good suggestion, thank you. Unfortunately I don't have the video project anymore, only the mp4 so I can't separate the music from the audio. I will make sure I don't include music in the future. In the meantime, I know this is not ideal, but you could watch it with the subtitles?
