Before I began recording - a squirrel fell from the walnut tree, stood frozen for a moment, and then shook it's whole body (almost violently) before running off to procure more nuts or whatever it was doing before it fell. It's such a good reminder that we can change the state of our Nervous System. If we have a stressor activate our Sympathetic Nervous System (Fight, Flight, or Freeze), we can deactivate it. We have that ability. Although we won't be shaking our physical bodies, we will use body scanning and the breath to practice centering, becoming present, and activating our Parasympathetic Nervous System (Rest & Digest). The more we practice, the stronger this "muscle" becomes. So let's practice shall we?!
