@@ButAVapor Yes i have seen those too. I just did that with one of my braids and that is what was done back then too. You'd re-do the perimeter because that is the part that is most visible. . If you keep it moistened and wash it at least sometimes then your hair is good. It cuts down on the product buildup at the root if you can find some good products to use.

God bless you Seun darling! Like you don't understand. As a woman that previously used to relax my hair and then also transitioned to natural, I personally choose to not do the big chop which granted now that I have been natural for a good couple years, I can see that, that probably was a mistake. However, I am not mad because personally I still would have made the same mistakes and probably more, given my urge to want to grow my hair long as fast as possible, had I went through with the big chop route. Through my natural hair journey I have learnt a lot and I cannot help but thank you so much Seun for taking us on your journey and teaching us about your findings from scientific studies (e.g. such as hygral fatigue). PS: Congratulations to you Seun for graduating! I hope to join you too in a couple years! Anyways, I think I have rambled on quite long enough now. Basically girl, before you I was watching natural hair videos from other people within the KZbin community and there was just such an emphasis on the fact that your hair is moisturised if the curls are juicy bouncy and wet, you know with the LOC or LCO method. Thanks to you releasing your video on hygral fatigue and also me experiencing my hair literally melting in my hands due to hygral fatigue, I realised that there is a *very BIG BAD misconception within the natural hair community* of what moisturised hair is and if you watch this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJW0n5-Hh9GAaNk as well as Seun's pervious video on what hygral fatigue that is here kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4mplmSMhayJiqc, you will see that your hair is actually moisturised when it is dry and it is dry when it has excessive amounts of water in it. Long story short after watching you take down this 3 month protective hairstyle, I then took out my 5 month old protective hairstyle (cornrows) 2 days ago (I absolutely do not recommend keeping your protective style in for that long, your girl was going through some things so ya know, I kind of forgot I have hair, 4c hair to be exact. It took me a whole 5hrs to finger detangle my hair! That's the pre-poo before the wash!) using predominantly coconut oil (for the added slip) and then leave in conditioner that I have which is African Pride Shea Miracle Leave-in conditioner. For my hair, I have learnt the hard way that it doesn't like to be damp or soaked in water too long, hence why I'd lather the hair up with coconut oil first and apply leave in only if my hair was just borderline crusty dry, to help soften it up so it's easier to detangle and also prolong/ prevent the chance of me ever having to experience hygral fatigue again. Prior to the method I stated above, I would have detangled/ pre-pooed my hair by wetting it first (or making it slightly damp), applying oil and conditioner to help detangle it. However, I vividly remember how weak my hair was after doing this. My hair literally felt like spaghetti and was breaking like crazy, because as I said prior my hair DOES NOT like water. This experience taught me that my hair absolutely doesn't like water, and detangling/ pre-pooing my hair this way gave me hygral fatigue. This comment is long, but if you have gotten to the end of this, I hope that my experience and what I have learnt helps you along your natural hair journey! Best wishes, Lucy 😊🤗❤️
