Brilliant. Looks really stylish. Well done for using all those pieces to save them being wasted and showing us how easy and effective it can be. Also thanks for the tip to finish the seam between the striped dark fabric and the white - it was a new technique for me and I’m going to put that into practice some day soon. Bless you ❤

Tips and tricks of the trade are often what makes all the difference in a garment looking more professional. Same with cooking. Tips used to be handed down from mother to daughter, but today's lifestyle doesn't always allow for that anymore, so videos like this one are truly appreciated. Love your channel!

Hello Alisa 😊. This shirt has such a high couture look. It truly is a beautiful well made perfect fitting garment. I think the seam finishes are what make all the difference and that beautiful topstitching you did. That has to feel so satisfying to make some thing you’re going to get a ton of wear out of from a pile of scraps. Have a great weekend.

Another inspiring video! Please keep the tips coming, they're always appreciated, and while I might not fully grasp every single tip, it's never caused me any confusion regarding following along with the main idea of what you're presenting. Now, I thought the end result looked great. Love the whole block effect and overall style of the shirt. And I also thought the muslin piece you made looked great just the way it was with the short length and buttoned up collar. I thought it suited you well. As an aside, the Super Nervous Laugh..." moment really cracked me up. So relatable!

Long time watcher, first time commenter. This is just what I needed to see! I have lots of linen scraps from shirts and pants I've had made for me and my husband. I made my mom a linen throw quilt this spring, but that didn't use up all my scraps, and now I have new remnants. I've ordered a larger cutting mat, and I'm ready to try making my own clothes! (First I'll iron my linen 😉) Thank you.

@@ThoughtfulCreativity I made a shirt! Not a linen shirt, don't know what the content is as I bought a remnant to use for gift bags. There was more than a meter so with your videos as a guide I used an existing shirt and copied it. This weekend I'm adding pockets to my dresses. My large cutting mat has been shipped so in the fall (when travel is done) I can continue my clothing journey. Thank you.

Hello, I haven’t finished watching the whole video yet, but I’m bursting to ask a question that I’ve been wanting to ask for ages. You mentioned the dress form isn’t a dress form of your body. How do you make so many beautiful, well fitting clothes for yourself without one? Have you ever considered doing a tutorial of making one? There are a lot of tutorials showing the duck tape, body scan and the Bootstrap method but, would you be able to show us how to draft one ourselves from our body measurements?

Your blouse turned out beautiful. In the video, I could not tell that the yoke was pieced together. Patchwork shirts, blouses, pants, bags, and jackets are very expensive; and, they never seem to go out of style. Try crazy patchwork piecing using your smaller scraps (in all different shapes, prints, colors, and patterns) to make your own yardage for one of a kind projects. I do it because it is fun, uses up a lot of scraps, and is relaxing to me.

Fantastic tutorial. I get so many ideas from your inspiration, and you reaffirm that some things I have tried are really great. As an example, I was making a quilt from waterfall fabric...I was two squares short to make it a larger 'lap' 'throw' size. I took my scraps, lined them up, sewed them up and cut them into the two squares I needed. If I don't tell anyone two squares were pieced, they would never know. I know now it will also work on a garment as well. The yoke is a great place to 'stretch' the fabric available. Your linen shirt is wonderful.

I love the way the stripes show through the neck where unbuttoned against the white collar. So interesting! I get a little lost sometimes when you are describing your techniques, but then, I remember when I first watched your early drafting videos, and I was completely lost. But intrigued. I watched some over and over and then started to try it out. Slowly, it started to make sense. So, I figure as I keep learning, the new concepts will make sense, too. I love seeing the potential for new levels of learning. You truly are an amazing teacher.

Yes, this is very helpful! That faux french seam really works. I like the cuff thick like they are because they are in proportion to the amount of white at the collar and the bottom half of the shirt. A skinny cuff, I think would look like it doesn't fit. Nice job, beautiful finish!

Making things from scraps is my favourite! I like to make something for myself and then get something for my daughter out of the leftover bits.
