Why does he talk about class so much? Are we living in the colonial era? Ali makes a great point at 17:29 and muzammil went speechless. Class has nothing to do with the prevalence of crime, in fact so called ‘upper class’ tends to use their influence to hide the crime

It was a good conversation Ali Ilyas had this "psychologist's tolerance" towards the new ideas posed by Muzamil. He did not deny anything but also didnt give in blindly to so many facts which were new for him. This, I believe, is the reason for this podcast to be a palatable "bilateral" conversation, rather than a unilateral flow of facts and information

I can show you thousands of comments in English condemning Aurat March and linking it to the rape of that woman. but yes Urdu waly are actually the lower middle class and not the WOKE PEOPLE. WOW.

You both have done a tremendous job touching on very important and prevalent topics that we need serious conversations and education on, through out the social classes! However, you have to be mindful of the victims and the crime committed against them with a punishment that serves 'justice'. Rehabilitating sexual offenders, mainly rapists means the system has failed the victims! Recovery and rehabilitating is crucial in our prison systems for most of the crimes but some do not deserve rehabilitation. The studies conducted in the west are merely a reference for us but does not reflect the complexities in our society, just like death penalty! The solution is not the punishment itself but its a much broader education and informed changes on a mass level that are required but the punishment is justice served to the victim, even that is not enough! Rehabilitating sexual offenders, yield how much of a guarantee that they will not offend again? Time and time again its seen happening in the west that the rapists end up committing offences again (not rape), also, we find loophole in researches where the perpetrators were not arrested or the victim did not report or you have the plea bargain to a non-sexual offense. Thus, the laws of Allah have hikmat in them, laws were ordained to us to maintain the law and order in the society and it does not have to align with four witnesses, that is a made up law that has no basis for rape crimes in Islam. And, we need research. A lot of it. Researches conducted from Pakistanis on the ground level because the society clashes are high and researches concluding to something on a different continent does not necessarily mean we can draw conclusions from them or base our actions/laws on that basis. Thank you.

Like the fact that you took this topic up. However, there are certain things that one need to include if eye opening conversations are indulged in The listener should not feel that the speakers and/or the experts are living in a bubble! You have touched this issues from a very social media feedback perspective while the ground realities are different. You have mentioned in your first podcast that you have briefly lived in Karachi and it was so suffocating for you that you had to bail. Hence its important to understand the concerns from all sorts of people who are living in very different circumstances and don't know anything better. Very happy that you were leading the conversation, however your guest Mr. Illyas still has to get a lot of exposure and experience in his practice to be able to talk on issues that has different dynamics with different characteristics of the society. Furthermore, no worldly knowledge no matter what statistics its based on, local or western demographics, can be applied universally. At the core of every person there are 2 entitles, one is his worldly presence and the other is his spiritual. And many factors are responsible to keep these in balance. One should do a self analysis if he has done enough to feed these 2 entities. Don't want to touch the religious aspect here, but that is a very important factor, as you yourself has given credit to the Almighty before yourself for your success. 👏👌

The best conversation...plz we want more podcasts to get the clear answer about the death penalty as I'm also confused about the death penalty(punishment) like not in favour of but at the sametime I think its imp bcz may be is something is going to do wrong may be they can be stopped by thinking of the result k agar esa kiya tou is ki saza kya hai and I personally think k negative reinforcement honi chahiye....

tribune.com.pk/article/9484/rape-fallacies-of-the-four-witness-requirement Hudood ordinance was the law I was referring to. Please read the above article to understand how it was sold as Shariah Law and created the problem of 4 witnesses in rape cases. Actual Islamic law categorically differs with the Hudood laws which is why eventually the Government of Pakistan decided to get rid of them.

According to the Islamization process of Zia you were required to provide witnesses if you were raped and many times women were imprisoned because they couldn’t provide witnesses (obviously)
