@@god6384 it's amazing how far removed The Warcraft franchise in the modern day is to it's roots that you can see here. The source code to this game leaked so a fan made remaster would be cool.

Then again, originally Warcraft copied Dune 2...But, in any case after C&C you had hundreds of games copying its RTS style.

Roland was top quality, I had Sound Blaster AWE32 and wish i had a Roland growing up. But i am also glad that Warcraft Audio CD's played during game instead of the midi as it had better quality, I still have a love for the Gravis, Adlib, OPL3 midi fonts

@Swampy: do you have any idea what hardware/software did they use to make the higher quality music tracks in the CD version?
@sfurta6 жыл бұрын
Hi, hard to say. The popular pro modules were e.g. Roland JV-1080, 2080,. E-MU, KORG, also keyboards from Roland, Yamaha and others or custom samples. Software packages like Cubase, Pro Tools, Cakewalk were also well known among professionals. Fast Tracker, Impulse Tracker, Scream Tracker, OctaMed, Protracker at home :)

@@sfurta I used the awe32 for the midi source back in the day, I must say this card made justice to the game, I can hear very little difference in fact.

@@sfurta To quote Glenn Stafford (the composer of Warcraft II) in 2019: "The original equipment used to record the Warcraft II music was a Roland SC-55 layered with a Roland SC-88. I recall only certain sounds were doubled with SC-88 but not all. French Horns were doubled, and... probably some of the woodwinds too, and I’m guessing strings and choir too. I think Snare was better on SC-55 alone, maybe timp too, also reverse cymbal, and not entirely sure about the rest and would have to take it case by case." He used Cubase on the PC side.
