I found some of the Chozo lore to be quite touching. Especially the ones pertaining to Samus. I know one of them by heart. "The hatchling walks among us. Are these dreams? Memories? Foretellings? Time and reality swirl together like estuary waters, and we Chozo know not what to believe. She appears as ghost-like as the Chozo, but at times the mists clear. We see her wounded eyes, and remember the child we found so long ago. What has she become, this Newborn? Clad in Chozo armor, wielding weapons our hands once held, does she dream of the Chozo as we once were? Does she long for her parents, lost to the same creatures that even now defile our sacred home? Does she still live?"

The most annoying aspect of the Chozo Artifacts is that you can't gather all the hints at once, after collecting a few you have to go back to the temple and gather the rest of them. Good thing I already knew that there were two of them in the Phazon Mines, not exactly the place I like to go back to
@esmooth919

You do have to go back to the temple for hints if this is your first time playing, But if you know where they are, you don't have to worry about that.

Thank you for a 16 minute summary going over every single power up and story element this game has to offer
@Fighter_Builder
@Fighter_Builder 10 жыл бұрын
I have a theory as to why Samus loses her stuff in the beginning of the game. Notice that the few seconds before her powerups malfunction, electrical sparks can be seen. What I'm thinking is that Explosion + Electric shock + Iron elevator wall = Damage to suit. Basically, the explosion damages some of the station's electrical systems, as well as propelling Samus into the resulting sparks. The electric shock may have caused things to malfunction, and the blunt force trauma caused by being slammed into an elevator probably didn't help either. As you may already know, computers are very sensitive to electricity, and a shock on this scale could very easily fry something, causing the add-ons to malfunction, and my guess is that the suit deactivates the items as a safety measure.
@Fighter_Builder
@Fighter_Builder 9 жыл бұрын
Woolly Dedede [I only have a gamecube] Well, Samus's suit was created by the Chozo, who also happened to have resided on Talon IV in the past, so that might explain it.

The plasma beam is NOW heatbased? When has it not been heatbased? That's precisely what plasma means.
@zyad48
@zyad48 10 жыл бұрын
let me explain, plasma is NOT heat based in any way unless deliberately designed that way, in the previous games samus shot plasma, not heat, plasma is a combination of positive and negative particles into a concentrated form of matter, there are four forms of matter, solids, liquids, gases and plasma, lightning is in fact plasma, plasma being green in the previous games makes sense because its shooting plasma, not molten heat
@lasseplatburk
@lasseplatburk 10 жыл бұрын
Yes, I know what plasma is, but it's still at high temperatures, seeing how much energy is needed to ionize the particles
@zyad48
@zyad48 10 жыл бұрын
lasseplatburk that doesnt necessarily make it high temperature actually, if we look at this game as a sci-fi game, which it pretty much is, then the beam just takes the negative and positive particles and combines them to make a powerful beam that blasts through things at high speeds, sure theres enough heat to go through the targets but its not completely heat based like we see in the prime series which is pretty much molten heat you're shooting and not actual plasma, i'm pretty sure that in prime 3 the "nova" beam was just supposed to be that way "because higher temps mean different colors" when im pretty sure that higher temps of fire reach and turn only blue and since the nova beam when combined with the x-ray visor can go through certain targets if you see the right area, killing them in one shot, im certain its actually plasma since it doesnt leave any burn marks on the victims it shoots through and kills like that

This is what I think. Since the Metroid Prime Trilogy takes place before the 2D Metroid games (Except for Metroid on NES). That makes the Spacejump and Spiderball in the 2D games (the ones that have them) upgraded version of the ones used in the Metroid Prime Trilogy.

The morph ball is Samus rolling into a ball and then having the suit expand to fit around her. The morph ball is not very small, so it isnt that impressive. She did it in the first game becuase it was easier to program than a crawling animation. Seriously! just sit down and pull your arms to your chest and tuck your head in! Thats just as big as her morph ball!
@Genrevideos

I found finding the artifacts pretty easy actually. You just read the hints and find the area that has the key word that is highlighted. And the only thing I ever had to look up on my playthrough was how to kill the invisible turret thing in the phazon mines.
@gilgamesh310
@gilgamesh310 10 жыл бұрын
The hint only tells you the rough area it's in, not the exact location. I'm not sure what invisible thing you're referring to, but I didn't need a walkthrough to beat any enemy.
@skeliskull
@skeliskull 10 жыл бұрын
gilgamesh310 Theres a turret later on that was invisible when it wasn't shooting. You couldn't target it either. You only fight it once. I was playing on an emulator at the time so I thought it could have been a bug so I looked it up. Also the hint system, as I said is really easy. It tells you exactly what room to go to by *highlighting* the key word. Once your in the room you just look around using scanners and tools.

OWL I literally just finished Metroid : Prime a few minutes ago...it's my first Metroid game, and now it's literally my *FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME!* But anyways, the Chozo Artifacts are pretty easy for the most part. 6 of them come self explanatory(not in any particular order, just saying there were 6 which I found really easy to find even without a hint. Quite literally, all you have to do is keep going down the game's main path and explore a little bit to find these 6 artifacts). But at the last 6(in no particular order), I got lazy and just looked up a walkthrough XD. I literally played 99.99% of the game blind though, and found it to be easy. The only parts I looked up where the last 6 artifacts, and some really derpy things like : How to get up Ramp X(I couldn't see where the ledge was on Tallon Overworld that you were supposed to get on, and later the way to use ramps in the Chozo Ruins) and , stupidly enough, how to do damage to Metroid Prime(I honestly didn't realize you were supposed to change weapons the first 3 minutes i was fighting him, so I did no damage. I should have realized this, considering he changed the color of the weapon AND ON TOP OF THAT I READ HIS DESCRIPTION XD)

Talon IV - the 4 stands for its place in its solar system. It is the fourth planet in the Talon System. Star Trek also used this form of naming planets that are found in an unpopulated system and therefore don't have any fancy names like Zebes or Jupiter yet.

I used a program called PS3, it basically converts PS3 controller inputs into Xbox360 controller inputs. Then on Dolphin go to GCPad and where it says device select gamepad, and from there on out you can use your controller to set the inputs. You can also use this method for wii controllers along with any attachments like classic controller pro.

@torkelsvenson6411 Indeed! Nintendo sure showed up, didn't they?? :D Now, here's hoping for a Remaster of 2 & 3 since 2 is my favorite and 3 is the epic conclusion!! Perhaps a rerelease of sorts is also in store for Hunters, since that was Sylux's debut and the multiplayer was a fan-favorite feature!

Why do people keep complaining about the artifact hunt? The hints the game gives you makes it really easy. It tells you in what region, and even what room you can find the artifact. The rough explanation on how to get it isn't that cryptic. If you read 'hidden door' your first instinct should be to use the x-ray visor; you can spot the door from almost anywhere in the room with it turned on.. Same with the power-bomb. If you could scan the wall it would have been to easy to spot. Seems to me like some people are just to impatient. I personally enjoyed traversing the planet one last time with all your upgrades before the boss. Only fitting for a game all about exploration.

I was never able to get through metroid prime. I loved the game! But it was just too big and I was lost and confused. It intimidated me, and if I go back now, I won't know where to go.

The game is only like 6 hours long. Like, sure the world is massive, but you can travel through it rather quickly. And if you know where to go, you can easily beat it 100 percent in half the time.

+Donnie Tramp You know, more critical thought. All he did 90% of the video was give a shallow list of the game's features, and only very rarely making a comment showing any form of critical thought. Metroid Prime is one of those games that deserve to be broken down and analysed thoroughly just because it's one of the greatest exercises of good game design out there. But I suppose that's too much to ask from youtube video game reviews.

Actually, you can get the Artifact of Elder on your first journey through the Pirate territory in the Phendrana Drifts. When you enter the Control Tower, jump atop the large crates on your right, then double jump off them, and in midair aim at the tower. If your timing and aiming are good, the tower will collapse, cutting down on backtracking. This technique is frequently used in speed runs.

Just beaten the game, and the best way I can describe it is that it's basically Super Metroid in first person. The immersion and atmosphere are FANTASTIC, the storytelling through the Pirate Logs just adds to it. The bosses are pretty intense (especially the final bosses), though Meta Ridley is annoying as fuck. However, the game is shy of a perfect score to me, all because of the damn Chozo Artifacts. It's just padding, and breaks an otherwise perfect pacing. And for whatever fucking reason, you only get hints for 4 artifacts after you recover the others and bring them back to the Temple. PADDING. Didn't think it was cryptic though, the hints are clear enough to me, with the exception of that Phendrana one, that's bullshit.

not sure if this was ever explained to you or not, (if so, than please don't mind me) but the reasoning for the number next to the planet name represents the that planet's place in orbit in that system. just as in our solar system we are refereed to as sol 3 in the sol system, but the locals would likely have had a different name for it if there were any live. (no explanation can be given for SR388 because reasons astronomy can't come up with one aside from the possibility that they found that planet through a telescope and kept the clunky name)

happy 18th anniversary metroid prime!!!(still has my favorite metroid commercial.:3) my favorite of the 3(though i love corruption as well.:3) that of nintendo's series jump to 3d has aged the best with it's great atmosphere and a lot of it's moments in its visual narrative(favorite use of it in metroid.),detail(with samus hand signals for beams and her eyes being visible in certain temperature conditions.) and the scans(especially the space pirates attempts to use the ancient chozo technology of tallon 4 & the chozo predicting/having heartwarming support of samus being the galaxies protector.).
