Shadow of the Colossus - Climbing up a column to the bridge

This video is part three of some climbing tests I have been experimenting with...
After three atempts I finally made it up to a higher platform!
Notice there are no sounds from Wander as he climbs up the column, this is because I am using a hack to make Wander climb and as such there is no audio...
Also you can see (at 3:15) I could still climb higher, but I stopped... I guess I'll do this in my next video.

I love how Agro just ignores Wander at the every end! Perhaps she was angry that I had frozen her ; )

At 0:30 seeing the stamina circle almost transparent & only taking up about 25% of the screen reminded me of something to ask you Nomad. Were you aware that in the retail PS2 E3 demo (not the single retail demo) you could fully max out your health & stamina using the regular lizard tails? I did it & it took a little over 4 hours. By the time the stamina circle is fully transparent it takes up about 95% of the screen, leaving only a tiny spot in the upper left corner that doesn't make contact with the stamina circle.

Yes, black & white tailed lizards give Wander 5 health & grip points for each tail harvested, in the retail version you only get 1 measily grip point for a white tail and nothing for black. In my OPM demo blog I mention how it took me 15 minutes to reach 600 grip points but I never went beyond that. I think in the retail versions the grip stops at 700, but in these earlier versions there was no limit ; )

@@NomadColossus I figured you probably new about it but I had to ask anyway. I doubt that many have taken the time to fully max out the stamina considering it takes over 4 hours, but I was up to it. You're probably also aware that there are a total of 7 shiny lizard tails as well. One at the prayer shrine by the bridge, 3 at the prayer shrine in the forest, & 3 more at the clearing above the lake right at the edge of the path where there would normally be a fruit tree.

Honest question; what makes you still play this game and upload videos?? What does it bring you personally, like whats the motivation. There has to be some sort of deep answer I imagine. Since it's obviously not simply for the joy of 'playing a game' anymore, since we're well past that point. I'm genuinely really curious if you could share some kind of answer, anything at all would be really fun to hear!

A lot of stuff I make public are unlisted videos I've already uploaded, sometimes months before, others are me revisiting something I did years ago, in this case an old video from 2011. But I don't actually 'play the game' and fight the colossi etc. I just mess around with the game and have fun. I work full time 5 days a week, so it's nice to unwind in my off hours and just experiment with different things in the game. I know after so many years people wonder how I'm still interested (get a life and all that) but I've never lost interest and there are many in the SotC community that haven't either! I mean Wisi has been laser focussed on the game since 2016 and he is still going. Note: I have two brothers that are also like me in the sense that when they get interested in a subject they stay absorbed for many years - so maybe it's a genetic thing? Not sure. I hope that answers your question ; )

@@NomadColossus I know exactly how you feel Nomad. I've also never lost interest in this game & I've spent an insane amount of time with it on all 3 consoles. Of course I play other games too, but "Shadow Of The Colossus" is always lingering in the back of my mind & it's not long before I'm back in the Forbidden Lands once again exploring & trying new things.

I can't speak for Nomad, but as someone who also keeps returning to this game & also continues to upload content from it, there's a deep almost spiritual feeling I get from being in the Forbidden Lands. Obviously not everyone who plays the game is going feel this way, but for those that do, it's personal & emotional in a way that differs from other open-world games. Therefore I'm motivated to continue playing, exploring, & sharing my thoughts & discoveries with other fans. That's my answer. :)

What I do is make Wander climb some surface, and note the hex values of his animations (4 bytes). Then I just lock these four byte values standing next to any flat surface in the game - and 'ta da' Wander will climb up! However, there is no sound from Wander... no grunts or 'hmfs' etc. But he will keep climbing ad infinitum!
