Shadow the Hedgehog is back in studio with DK for another episode of The Donkey Kong Experience podcast. And things are getting deep, man. Like, “where do you go when you despawn?” deep. At one point Diddy Kong has to tell his best friend to stop waving a gun around. But, you expect that sort of thing from this award-winning podcast by now; it’s been on the air for 644 episodes.
As was the case in their first chat, things can get a little heated, and it all gets a little Donkey Kong vs Shadow the Hedgehog, Shadow the Hedgehog vs Donkey Kong. But, these two dudes can occasionally find middle ground when discussing the afterlife of extra lives. Also, don’t forget what the ultimate lifeform was plugging. No, not Shadow Generations, silly… The Shadowcast. It sounds like so much fun!

So wait, on that theory of extra lives do the "clones" have past memories of the previous ones or are they blank slates? And if that whole zombie apocalypse happens with the dead ones coming back, do they know how to surpass where they fallen, familiar with the stuff that took place after their deaths or are they inevitably stuck repeating their deaths in an alternative way? 🤔

I think the idea here is that each extra life serves as a "unique" version of him from the last checkpoint he was at. Notice how he's only able to recall the first few lines he said at the beginning of the video when another version respawned.

Sun eater series taught me how respawning works, at the moment of death time stops. you look left and then you look right. On both sides there's an infinite number of you from different time lines. you pick one, one who didn't die there. and you change places with him. He dies, you dont. I like that way of looking at it.

I posted the comment after I saw the picture spin… before I watched it all. I wanted to say… Noooo…. Not another one. If DK from the same Universe where Mario lives in (Mario’s Universe)… Does that mean there is more than one Mario / Jumpman? Marios? The same Marios become Paper Marios, Sports’s Marios and more?
