I know WWE sees itself as being “bigger” than everyone so they have to have the “biggest name” as their champ, but it’s put them into a position that a lot of people don’t care who it is anymore. Imagine an AEW Rumble, how many potential winners could there be? Granted you might say many aren’t big names, but that’s the point, a win in the Rumble can take a name and make it big. WWE used to be able to do that with MitB and the Rumble. They haven’t been able to “build” anyone into a spot for years at this point.

It's a sign of how bad things are getting in WWE that they've had Brock/Roman earmarked for Mania for probably a year now and here we are only a few months away and they STILL can't stop f**king around with the booking to get there. Roman screwed him out of his title. Okay good there's your kickoff. Oh wait now he's won the Rumble. Okay now Roman can't dodge him. Sure whatever. Wait now Brock is in the EC? WHY?! If they wanted to do a title v title tease why in God's name would you have taken the belt off Brock at the Rumble? The men's Rumble was a waste. Because everything they did was meaningless the second Brock came out and tossed everyone in a minute. But now it's doubly pointless because he's in the EC for a title shot anyway. And let's say Brock wins. NOW WHAT?! They said if Charlotte won as champ she'd pick her title challenger at Mania. So if Brock is champ and Rumble winner why would he get to challenge Roman? Because if the argument is "Oh he can pick Roman as his challenger." Well then how is that any different than the Rumble winner picking which title they're gunning for? This whole thing is dumb and it's rendered everyone on the roster who isn't Brock/Roman an afterthought. Lashley was a monster for all of 2020 but then he won his first title off the *MIZ* and his second because Roman beat up his opponent. Woooo...... Also, did anybody else involuntarily scream when Dave mentioned the plan was originally to put Shane in the Elimination Chamber? Especially if Brock was in there. I don't want to see him die in the ring but WWE seems convinced that's the route to take.

Few things here... - First, I'm so glad they screwed up the ending of the WWE Title match and I just gave up on the rest of the show. Cause the Rumble would've did it by default. - Second, I remember when Shane came back out of the blue in 2016 and the monstrous pop he got. That was 6 years ago. It may as well be even longer than that with everything that has unfolded since. If you told me I had a choice between eating a bullet and watching Seth v. Shane, I'd tell you where to put the bullet. This is one of the biggest problems with this company right now. - Third, when you're this kind of clueless about what's going on from day to day as consistently as this company is, it speaks to a lot all at once. The biggest amongst them being, an audience which doesn't care any more than the folks backstage do. WWE knows its hardcore fanatics will lap up whatever's put in front of them, no matter how nonsensical it is. That's why you get Bad Bunny and Shane O Mac among the last four of the Rumble. Once upon a time, it used to be a pretty big deal to be amongst the last four of the Rumble. Now? Doesn't even matter. I've legitimately been run away from WWE the last few years. I gave the Rumble a shot cause I was genuinely excited for Rollins/Reigns and Lesnar/Lashley. One ended in a BS DQ, the other had a run in. I knew there wouldn't be a payoff from the DQ and go fig that Brock announces he's challenging for the Universal Title, yet will still get to challenge for the WWE Title. (Cause Big E couldn't get no rematch for the title he got ripped from him. Nor could Kofi.) WWE's past the point of getting any kind of 'benefit of the doubt'. They deserve NONE. Lesnar/Lashley was a legit dream match and they crapped all over it. Rollins/Reigns was beautifully built on super short notice, done well and of course, the ending was shite. These long reigns historically speaking, usually don't end well in terms of popularity. The most recent case, Hogan, ended up having to go heel in 96 cause he had a stranglehold on the title throughout most of the 80s into the early 90s. WWE hasn't learned that lesson and they're more or less repeating it with Roman now. (What's lost on most from this past Saturday, was Roman throwing down the WWE Title dismissively after he blasted Brock with it. Very emblematic of where the company is right now.) There's nothing to be positive or optimistic about moving forward with this company. They've ruined virtually every great prospect they've had in short order. I have no reason to believe they won't ruin Kid Steiner when the time comes. The Saudis are next to this next card will look very much like a Mania card, cause of course it will. When you're paying what the Saudis are for a house show to entertain your masses, you only get the best. This company will continue to find ways to turn a profit, while not making a single star to ensure they get even more. Riddle winning the Rumble would've definitely been different. I also think Rhea Ripley winning the Rumble would've been even better. Having Rousey tossed by Charlotte would've set up Rousey/Flair while leaving the winner's circle for someone who could've used it immensely.

This described my exact feelings. Thank you for writing this out. I had no expectation for the Rumble because I haven't watched the weekly shows in months. @@JC-ok4yx I turned it off after Lashley won, cause I already knew what it was going to be for the Rumble. Sure enough, Brock enters at 30 and wins. I've thrown in the towel on this company a long time ago as far as watching on the regular. There's no point in watching cause none of these storylines have meaningful payoffs and far too much that happens has no meaning. Wins and losses are moot. When you consistently tell your audience that nothing that happens on your weekly shows matter, why invest time in a Premium Live Event when even less will matter? I honestly would've had Reigns lose to Seth, while Brock retained. Reigns embarks on the next phase of his journey on this time, he has no title and no Special Counsel to protect him. No Special Counsel to ensure he can get in the Rumble. (Remember, he burned the candle at both ends with management so they're not feeling obligated to help him like they did when he was champ.) Brock torments Roman who goes even further off the rails, pushing his cousins away. Heyman starts feeling bad for Roman, as he sees how much his presence is missed. End of the day, Lesnar/Reigns happens at Mania and Heyman turns on Lesnar as Roman snatches the WWE Title away from Brock. Instead, they keep Roman as champ which is seriously getting stale.

I would agree that the Royal Rumble was boring. What made the Rumble great was the surprise and shock value or even to use it to launch new stars. It's kind of hard to get excited about something when you know who is going to win.

Seth not selling the chairshots from the rumble is just par for the course in WWE. Remember how the almighty Ronda had a chair around her neck get stomped on by Charlotte, then come back the next night and beat Ruby with Liv and Sarah at ringside without any problem. This company tries to get you to never care about anything that happens.

There is no spontaneity at all. I don't just mean the RR it's WWE in general. The formula doesn't change and it won't until either Vince leaves for whatever reason or their contract is up and they're forced to make changes. The opening match was great until the finish and the rest of the show was a steep drop down after that. I skimmed it all. Both rumble finishes say what they do continually - they are willing and more than happy to both pay a fortune for one person and essentially tell the rest of the division that they don't matter.
@TheGekko1352 жыл бұрын
If they didn't think this was going to end up as a boring rumble, then this gets to be their wake up call. A predictable outcome is one thing. But when this the entire thing lacks star power, storyline, or excitement. A predictable finish just becomes that much worse. I forget what year it was, but the super booing Roman out of the building finale was a great rumble up to the end. Because people thought other wrestlers had a chance. The Brock destroys everybody rumble was brilliant because of McIntyre and the chance they took on him. They undid that last Sunday.

Honestly I don't really have any issues with the Women's Rumble other than a few questionable eliminations and how long or short a few people had. Tbh having all the suprise entrees made the women from the current roster feel more important and gave them a better chance to win ( even if we all knew either Ronda or Charlotte was 100% winning... ) Where as in the Men's Rumble nobody felt important. I was ok knowing ( for days to weeks ) that Brock was winning the Rumble ( it makes logical sense so I'm fine with it even if it is obvious) the issue is how we got there... The Rumble was booked like a typical WWE show or PPV lately starts off with potential and fizzled out... The best part of this Rumble was who started it. Everything after that fell flat. This match should of been half legends ( some actual legit entrees ) so that the 15 stars you picked from td were more important 1 Lesnar 2 Drew 3 Big E 4 AJ 5 Nakamura 6 KO 7 Kofi 8 Finn ( who wasn't even in it ) 9 Sheamus 10 Omos ( reluctantly ) 11 Rey 12 Orton 13 Riddle 14 Sami 15 Someone who can even for a few seconds make you think oh shit is he getting a random push... So they could all feel like AJ and have people go ok probably not but maybe... ) Having jobbers, most tag teams, and even mid carders flood the Rumble makes it feel like even if Brock wins who cares who is he beating??? PLUS GETTING TO THAT POINT IS FUCKING BORING...

Bryan has said it numerous times, but "predictable" doesn't have to mean bad. Because in wrestling, a "predictable" storyline just means you're laying it out in a way that fans can follow and get excited about. Brock coming out at 30 was predictable, but it sucked because the rest of the rumble didn't set up anything. So by the time Brock showed up and chucked everyone you're left wondering "what was the point of anything that came before it?"

No Kane in the Rumble, AJ Styles tossed out way too early, no NXT stars like LA Knight, Ciampa or Grayson Waller. Not one returning legend or Forbidden Door entrant from Impact/NWA like Trevor Murdoch, Tyrus, Morissey, etc. Add in some of those moments, and book the actual action in the match to be more exciting. We needed better elimination spots for young guys like Montez, Boogz, Otis, etc to build up their abilities. Re order some of the stars so they have time together at the end to run an interesting 5 minutes where you ask whos going to win? A false elimination on Lesnar would have added a lot. Three on one like they did to Omos. But have Brock find a way. He should have wrestled Drew for at least 2 minutes before Drew was tossed out. It was booked lazily with no heat no surprises and no believability.

Weak storylines. No new stars. Boring. Stupid. No continuity. No adult storylines. An entire Royal Rumble full of mid carders who had zero chance of winning. No explanation, no backstage angle why Brock and how he entered the Rumble match. Just weak explanations from the play by play. No love. No soul. No creativity. No vision. No clue. Vince is lost and has literally forgot how simple pro wrestling is to book. Good god. It’s so bad at WWE these days. It’s beyond just saying it sucks. It’s at a point where I’m tired of saying it. I wonder if its the idea of Kayfabe Roman like- If I lost my match (due to disqual) then Brock you are losing your match as well. hence it allows roman a storyline reason why he would interrupt Lesner match to make sure Lesner loses as well. But yea its kinda ridiculous that Reigns Lesnar is literally the only thing wwe can do and the Lesnar vs Reigns storyline isnt enough they also need Lesnar to be wrestling in the elimination chamber to try to get that title shot as well. so part-timer Lesnar essentially being the challenger or biggest name/most likely challenger for BOTH universal AND heavyweight championship wtf? they do not need to shoehorn Lesnar into elimination chamber other than as a way to please thier Saudi masters

Too predictable. I would have put seth over. Roman gets # 25 then brock #30. The usos could have came out but seth hits them with chairs and curb stomp and brock eliminates roman and you can even further it. Brock looking at heyman & laughs then heyman laughs back. On smackdown roman demands rematch with seth in street fight. Beats seth brock comes out to pick to fight him at wm. I think that would have been better. For the life of me i dont know why becky is a heel. She could have stayed a babyface to the rebel ronda. This could be easily the female version if rock vs austin face vs face. But wwe booking is ridiculous
