In Tai Ji Quan we also have a routine called Cannon Fist. Some of the movements look similar. I think there is some connection in the past.

A big chunk of Taiji postures can be found almost directly from the older Shaolin forms, especially Taizu Changquan. Shaolin forms are also included in Chang Naizhou's teachings, the internal treatesis of which influenced the theories of Taiji as well.
