The theory about complexion being the difference between hype surrounding Wemby vs. that of Bol Bol seems flawed. Bol Bol and the GREAT Michael Jordan have similar complexions. Yet, the NBA embraced Jordan as being the face of the league. He made the league exciting to watch and made the league a lot of money. Now, decades later, the same league is fueling or feeding into the hype around Wemby. Could the difference between why there's been more hype for Wemby v. Bol have less or nothing to do with complexion and more about something else?

I went to the university of Bridgeport in 1988 and guess who was on our basketball team? After he played college basketball for the Bridgeport Purple Knights, Bol was selected by the Washington Bullets in the 1985 NBA draft. He was a great guy.

It’s not easy to explain, my favorite player coming up in the 80s was Micheal Cooper. There are code, dog whistles like an announcer comment, the way fouls are called, which can adversely change their game or the way they are viewed. Putting them on bench even.Explain why Bol can’t get 20-30 minutes a game? That being said I know it’s hard to see and understand with a league full of black people.

I disagree. While I agree colorism and racism are factors in marketability, in this case Bol Bol doesn’t get minutes b/c coaches don’t trust him enough. He’s been traded multiple times. Ask yourself why coaches would not trust him w/ more minutes despite his obvious talent and athleticism. The NBA is not like the NFL these days where they literally won’t play folks and will put less talent on the field for dumb reasons.
